So most of the PJ's I have seen are wishes weddings, and I was curious as to what other Escape Brides did for their reception.

With only eighteen guests and a cake cutting ceremony already included in the Escape package, I'm at a loss of what to do after that. But, I've came up with a few ideas.

1) Gather the gang and head to a Disney Restaurant in full Bridal gear.

2) Head back to the hotel, change out of Bridal attire and head for an offsite restaurant. (Or would it be appropriate/or just awkward to go still all jazzed up?)

3) Skip the reception, head back to the hotel and hop on the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. And either....
a) Have fun all day and then watch wishes! :)
b) Do some kind of wishes dinner (not real sure about the details that go with that option)

I can't wait to here from another Escape Bride!!!!! :)

I'm not an Escape bride (I almost was) but I am a Swan bride, and we are in the same boat regarding reception issues!

Our plan-- have dinner on property at one of the restaurants. We are doing the Garden Grove simply because it's convenient for us. We are going in full bridal attire.

After dinner, we are heading to Jellyrolls to dance!

Have you thought about a dessert party?

Hiya MrsDuck!!!

I recently looked into maybe doing the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Desert Part, which looks and sound absolutely amazing! My only concern is that one, Next December is still a while away and they don't always do this dessert party, and b)I've heard rumors that they're changing the wishes fireworks!!! I'm not sure if it would still be as special to me me if it's a different fireworks show.

Then I've also been thinking, they're supposedly going to be done with parts of the new Fantasyland by then. Hopefully that includes The Beast's Castle which would be pretty neat.

What time is your wedding, and where is it?

We're doing our Escape wedding at 2:30 at SBP, and we have Chef's Domain at Citrico's for 6:00, which gives us plenty of time for photos and travel between the two locations.

You have more people than they can seat at Chef's Domain, but you certainly could make a reservation at Citrico's or one of the other nice restaurants at WDW. If you don't want to try a large party reservation (and, I know, they won't promise to sit you at the same table), you could try a restaurant or room buyout. With 18 people, you could get half of the Cape Town Wine Room at Jiko ($2,500 minimum expenditure), or half of The Wave at the Contemporary (minimum expenditure varies by meal, $200-$1,500). You could also get a private room at Shula's Steakhouse or Todd English's bluezoo, if you want to eat at Swan & Dolphin. There are a couple of other options, including the Wine Room at California Grill (most expensive of the options) and the Gardenview Lounge at GF (which has some restrictions on what you can do there, such as no speeches, no opening of presents, so not sure if it will work for you.)

I hope some of these might work for you, but let us know more details and we can see if we can find you something that fits in with your special day.

I was an escape bride this past december and had the same dilemma as you. We ended up having a lunch reception at the Napa Room of the California Grill. After the wedding we had our cake, champane and first dance at the Grand Floridian. We then had our guests ride the monorail over to the Contemporary. We ended the night with a dessert party at Sago Cay. If you want to read about the details my wedding trip report link is in my signature.

Congratulations your upcoming wedding and I how I know it will all work out to being a magical wedding!

I know mine is a bazillion years away but I plan on having a mid afternoon ceremony at the Wedding Gazebo at Yacht Club, followed by cake cutting and champage, then photos with family and around the property, bit of a rest back at the hotel, then head to Cali Grill for dinner and fireworks in full bridal get up :D

Another Swan (VR) bride here!! After our ceremony and cake/champagne reception, we headed to GF and after we did photos around that beautiful resort, we had cocktails in Mizner's Bar followed by dinner at Citrico's. It was absolutely amazing!! We, too, were too big a party to use the Chef's Domain, but had a wonderful 'keyhole' shaped table set up for us in a quiet spot in the restaurant. They were very good and allowed us to add our special touches (eg our floral on the table, favours laid out etc). They bent over backwards to make us feel like royalty and the other guests were great - shouting out good wishes etc to us!!! Highly recommended!!
We finished the day watching 'Wishes' complete with drinks in hand and the piped in music from the Top of the World Lounge at BLT!! The perfect end to our perfect day!!!

at the moment, our plans are this...
afternoon ceremony (haven't decided exact time yet) and then we are going to pop over to Downtown Disney (in full wedding clothing and gear) for dinner at House of Blues.
Then we are going to take a ferry back to the hotel.
fun and loose.

We had an escape wedding at 2:30 in the afternoon at the WP, had the cake/champagne ceremony afterward at GF, and decided to take our guests over to Poly for the 5 PM Spirit of Aloha dinner show. We were seated right up front, and the actors actually sang us a song and we got to get up and have our "second dance" in front of everyone! The food was good, and there was a bit of entertainment for our guests. After that we went and changed and headed for drinking on the Boardwalk. It was a really fun day!

We'll be having the ceremony at noon, then after the cake cutting, photos, and what not, we'll head back and change, and head out to a restaurant. Leaning towards Le Celier. If we can pull it off, I'd kinda like to do a dessert party, but that depends on how the income is! ;)

After dinner, we are heading to Jellyrolls to dance!

Is there dancing at Jellyrolls now? It's been a while since we've been there, but every time we went it was just a dueling piano sing-along bar, no dancing or anything.

I had a private meal in the Key West Room and then a private DP at SCP to watch Wishes.

Yeah I don't think they have dancing at Jellyrolls. If you want dancing then you want the Atlantic Dance Hall.

We are exactly a week away from our escape wedding! Our plan is wedding ceremony at 5pm and then dinner at Raglan Road at 8:30pm. I was hoping for dinner a little bit earlier, since we've got a few kids in the group, but I think the time between will be ok.

We're going in our wedding attire, using the limo to get there and then taking the boat back to our hotel.

Can't wait! :)

We are planning a 12 noon wedding at Yacht Club Wedding Gazebo, lots of photos around Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk then 5pm dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

We had a 10am SBP escape wedding..then took pics along boardwalk and Polynesian...then had a reception lunch at kona cafe at the Polynesian resort. It was delis and they accommodated our group of 13

We are in exactly the same position with the reception but... we've discovered that you can have a private dessert party in your own hired venue.

This is a REALLY helpful blog post on it!

So we've decided this week that once the DF graduates in May we're going to head to WDW for his graduation trip! I figured once we get down there we would look at a few places to consider for reception venues and even other wedding-like stuff.

So feel free to list away at places that you've loved about other's wedding, and even your own!!! I love to read about everyone else experience!!! :rotfl:

Our plans so far:

2:30 pm ceremony at the WP, followed by cake and cider at the GF, then pictures around the resort for us and cocktails for our guests at Mizner's.

After that we'll be heading over to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner at about 5:30 or 6. I don't know if we'll be able to fit in the semi-private room (holds 16) but I'm sure the manager will be able to work with us. We're also considering California Grill for dinner - the view is just spectacular and since we can take the monorail, less hassle with getting everyone from point A to point B. Besides, I think it would be fun to ride the monorail all gussied up in my dress.

I'd absolutely love to be able to do a DP for Illuminations but I don't think it's going to be in the budget. DF and I have been kicking around the idea of treating our group to a Tomorrowland Terrace dessert buffet the next day for Wishes, but that's still under discussion.

How far ahead can you make a reservation for a group? We have around 30 people, do we have to wait until its the normal time others make ADRs (180 days out)?

the tomorrowland terrace must book up REALLY early and quickly because there isn't ANY openings for the entire 9 days we are in disney for our wedding/honeymoon in January. unless for some reason it isn't open at that time of year? I haven't looked much further into it than trying to book a spot on the online bookings part of the Disney page and it says there is nothing available.
