Hey Airtran people, I was just able to choose my future seats....

I just checked my itinerary for OCtober and it let me choose my seats. They were previously to be assigned at check in.

If you have a future Airtran flight, go see if you can choose your seats too!

I am flying on frequent flier miles (Wendy's promo), so I don't know if my class of ticket is now being allowed advanced seat assignment or not..

I couldn't access through Mozilla...it said all seats were occupied plus it blocked exit rows and several bulkhead seats for airport assignment only. Trying with IE.

I have a flight to MDW in July and I tried accessing today. Both my originating and return flight show that all seats are "unavailable" AND it doesn't show me where my seat is.

Is this related to the computer issues they were having today?

I wonder. I tried earlier and could not view my reservation. I now can view my itinerary and it looks different than before. On the right side it has a tab to view/change seats. I clicked on it and it gave me a seat map where I could choose my seats. Lots of the seats on the 2 seat side of the plane are already taken, so I grabbed rows 19 and 20 on that side..... just in front of the exit rows.

I am on a Mac using Safari as my browser. Good luck.

The only thing I can think of is that I am using frequent flier credits and they changed the rules on these. Up until today, my seats were to be assigned at check in, now today, I can choose my seats. If you cannot choose them, I bet that is why.

I just saw a report on FOX news that Airtrans new computer check-in system went down at most major airports today up to 7 hour delays on most flights.

They are telling people to go back home and do on-line check-in that thats the only thing thats working until they get it fixed.

Maybe I just got a lot of people excited for nothing..... I have actually never flown Airtran before, but I got a bunch of credits through the Wendy's/Airtran promo last year for 4 r/t flights. Maybe the rules on these tickets have changed.

Ok, just did some research. I guess I got excited and posted before I investigated.

When I booked my flights, they were listed as A+ coach, with seats assigned at check in. Now they are listed as Y class tickets, which are the same as the highest priced tickets before business class. So, it appears they changed the designation of the A+ rewards tickets, allowed them to be assigned ahead of time.

Sorry to get some of you in a frenzy.

Now, if you are flying using A+ credits, such as the Wendy's promo, go check your itinerary and choose your seats.

Our flight is in December and I also booked with the Wendy's promo.

I was able to choose our seating ahead!

Just curious, I priced it to see how much my 5 round trip tickets would cost. The total for 5 round trip flights with my flight info was 3,608.50! After buying all of my cups and paying taxes when I booked the flights, I paid $154 for 5 round trip flights!

We have a flight to MCO this upcoming Sunday on AirTran and I logged into my itinerary and clicked to choose seats and it won't let me choose the seats..they are all unavailable. I got a cheap fare that only allows you to choose seats when you check in so it wasn't working for me. Darn. Guess I'll have to wait until Saturday.

So if one has a ticket that only allows you to chec in 24 hrs. in advance and choose your seats, then you are out of luck until then? All the seats for our flights say "occupied" which unnerved me for a minute.

Appartently they re-classified the A+ rewards seats to allow them advanced seating assignments. All others appear to still be assigned at check in which is at the airport or when you check in online.

Best of luck. I have passed through your neck of the woods a lot this week on the way to and from my cabin in Monticello.

THANKS so much for letting me know. I saw your post today & was able to select our seats for this Saturday's flights as well as my returning flights on Sun 7/2. They were tixs that were purchased via the Wendy's promotion.

Yeah, now I don't have to get up a 1/2 hour early tomorrow to do this, just have to get online & print my boarding passes!!!
