He's coming home and we're going to the World! Aug 2011

Spring Break - We took a short trip up to DC, we went to the Zoo, walked the Mall, Air & Space, the Fashion Centre, and got to see the end of the cherry blossoms. We had a great week, and I forgot to pack socks! Need to make sure I don't forget those again, thank goodness for Costco.
Celebrated my birthday with famous TV cupcakes! Yummy!

Looks like you all had a great time! When were you guys at the zoo? I took my kids there on Monday of last week! I live only about 45 minutes away so we try to make it there at least once a year. We also do the museums often too, the Natural History is the kids favorite so we got there at least once a year but they also enjoy the Air and Space! How were the cupcakes? I've been trying to convince my DH to take a trip downtown specifically so we can go there.:lovestruc

The cupcakes were good. Very good. The peanut butter and chocolate was my favorite, the strawberry was a close second.

We were at the zoo on Monday! The kids in those paint jumpsuits were driving us crazy, did you see that group?

I just started thinking about making a countdown chain and realized that 100 days starts this friday! I'm so excited!!!

Definately going to have to check out the cupcakes! My MIL likes to take my myself, my DH, older DS, BIL, SIL, and DN to this awesome Italian restuarant in Georgetown every summer so I am going to have to get them to make a detour!

I did see those kids, they seemed to be everywhere!

Great pictures, looks like you had a wonderful time.

Georgetown Cupcakes are awesome, though we're lucky to have a great place here in Fairfax - Cupcakes Actually. Saves me the 30 minute drive into the city. Used to be a rare thing to find a cupcake store, now they are as common as McDonalds! (and, about as fattening! :lmao: )

99 days to Disney World,
99 days to go.....

As the temperatures rise, my dh has twice questioned me about still wanting to go in August. He is worried we won't enjoy it at all.

wahhhhhhhhhhhh:confused::eek:
I don't want him to change his mind!

I know it will be hot and I bought misters, we planned a mid-day break at the pool, and we are not going commando in the evenings. Got any good arguements for me to use next time he calls and isn't gung ho?

Second minor freak out of the pre-trip...
my dh return to work date may change from our original given date which will totally wreck our current plans. ACK!!!!
Some days I think I am better off not knowing what he knows!

I have gone twice in mid August and while yes it is hot, as long as you do as you are planning you should be fine. Even though I could never convince anyone to go back for midday breaks we always found a shaded or indoor place to take mini breaks and it worked out great! There was only one day on our last trip that I was truely miserable, we were at AK and it was in the high 90's. We just did what we most wanted to do and left by 2pm.

I'm sorry about the stress. I think I may agree with you, I'd rather my DH not tell me and just let me know when he positively knows what's going on :)

I think that as long as you get to the parks early, the heat is managable. So many rides are inside with ac too!

I'm sorry! I know how frustrating this can be.
