I was grumbling this week because I went through Priceline and ended up with Hertz. Our flight out of Chicago was very much delayed due to weather, and since we got in after 1 a.m., I wasn't relishing the idea of going offsite. But the bus was right there waiting, and we were at the Hertz office, in our car, and on our way out within 15 minutes! Our last onsite Alamo rental took an hour because it was midnight and they only had one person working. Hertz had two people at the desk, and we were next in line after the two parties ahead being waited on. A third clerk actually came out and took care of us. Also, we got the softest sell on the insurance that we've had in a long time, and they upgraded us from economy to compact and gave us a totally loaded Ford Focus with only 250 miles on it. Usually the compacts don't have the cool stuff like power everything, cruise, remote locks, etc. So I have to take back my grumbling and recommend Hertz...this is the second good experience we've had with them.
