Does anyone have an experience with Hertz?

We got a great rate through Hertz on an economy car in August when the rates were super low. We're only paying $106 including taxes and fees for 9 days but everything I read about Hertz is negative. I know, most people only take the time to write a review when they want to complain.

We've rented from almost every rental company at MCO and I consider myself to be a pretty seasoned renter. I stand my ground with upsells and insurances and I'm meticulous about what I sign so I've never been overcharged.

The complaints that make me nervous are the number of people complaining about being overcharged and Hertz not having any cars. I feel like I can stand my ground and pay close enough attention not to be overcharged, hopefully. But the not having any cars thing makes me nervous. I've rented many times when they try to upsell me to a higher category only to find out they didn't have any of the my reserved category so they upgraded me for free. (After lots of upsell attempts though.) Does Hertz not upgrade you if they don't have your category? I've read many reviews that say that people were told they were out of cars and they had to wait. Some people had to wait hours.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I just rented from Hertz this weekend, although from my local one, not MCO. They asked about gas refills and insurance, but there was no "hard" sell. I don't know if it's a Hertz corporate thing or not, but the car only had 3/8 tank of gas (I only needed to have that much back in the car at return).

If you have a rate of 106.00 I would wait. LOL Prices have been terrible, at least in March. I think all companies can do that. We rented from Alamo in Tampa in November. Our flight arrived 40 minutes early and we couldn't get a car without doubling the rate. We just waited.

OP if you are only paying $109 total for 9 days it sounds like a pricing mistake, even if for an economy classo_O

what corporate code and coupon did you use?

DW and I have rented from Hertz several times in the past 10-15 years and never had any issues with the company.
Sign up for their loyalty program and call in to have you membership added to your existing reservation
(Hertz Gold Plus Rewards - its free and can save you time at the counter, some locations even allow you to bypass the counter)

We usually like to book National or Alamo because you get to pick your own vehicle and I don't mind spending a little more for this perk.
That being said, if another company has a much better price, I have no problem jumping ship to save $40, $50 or $100 on a 1-2 week rental.
$106 is a great price, probably be hard to beat (but I always keep checking right up until we leave just in case)

We booked around the same time. Not as good as the rate you have, but still great. The rates even appeared on carrentalsavers.com. You will have to let us know when you go and how it works outs.

No coupon. The reservation shows a code of WEHW. It was a special they ran in August just for economy cars, $47 for the week.
