Hertz forced us to buy car rental insurance

I am not familiar with car insurance issue, but in CA, liability coverage is required for personal car. But I am not so sure if it will cover on the rental car.

Call your insurance company and find out about your particular insurance plan!

With ours, it covers normal vehicles that carry passengers, but not moving vans, so we buy the extra when we rent a Uhaul.

This is my first trip to Florida, so I am still a newbie. I am not familar with the law in FL so I want to know if other travellers have to buy liability insurance when they rent a car in FL. I think I better let it go, we are on vacation right now.

I got *taken* by a skeezy taxi driver a few years ago when we were on our way to WDW. I was so upset and felt so sick about it I let it ruin my entire first day. It was an amount of about $40 and I see yours was just under $70?
Yes, please let it go.....enjoy your vacation and deal with the rental insurance thing after you get home. The money amount isn't hindering your vacation and stewing about it will just make you miserable for the rest of your time there.

Don't let this ruin another minute of your vacation! Have a wonderful remainder of your trip!!

Lesson learned. It is law that you need insurance but not that you have to buy theirs. Both my personal insurance policy and Amex cover me for renting. So, I always have my car insurance card with me and pay with Amex. If you paid with Amex, call them and see if you can dispute the charge with them. Also, I would speak to someone in person (supervisor/manager) when you return the car and let them know about the dishonest sales person.

And, above all...ENJOY YOUR VACATION...especially since it's your first time.

My husband just called Hertz Customer Service, they refused a refund.

Well I could have told you that.

You are going to have to fight with the MCO manager And you should have done it day one. At this point it is getting harder. If you wait until you get back to the airport which seems to be happening the manager is just going to think "they did not need the insurance so now they want a refund".

Go back and see what I wrote on page one. Do not call the 800 number to fight this. Get the local number. Call it ask for the manager.

However, at this point. I would cut my losses, get off the DIS and just enjoy
Your vacation. :dance3:

wow talk about a robe a dope deal ... you never have to take insurance out on a rental car ... not on less the car is over more than what your own policy will cover or the credit card and even then the car renatl compay has all thier cars insurned

1. thier car's are insurened other wise the would not have liceses plates lol
2. if you have your own auto insurace your good to go as long as you have full crovage for a pice of mind
3. most credit card provied the insurance on a rental car

I think the lady was forcing you hubby to buy insurance that you have aleady throuh your credit card and or you own car insurance ....
