This may sound weird...heck, the title was hard enough.
Does anyone out there have hermit crabs for pets?
We've got one (down from three since he killed the other ones by taking away their shells). He lives in the luxurous crab habitat from Costco w/the cave and the bowls and extra shells, etc, etc. Well, the darn thing kept popping the top off the habitat and escaping (like all the way across the house). Now, we've been putting all his water bottles on top of the lid to make it too heavy to pop off. Well, went to change his water and he's out again...he must have snagged at the edges until he worked his shell out.
Once we find him, I'm tempted to set him outside and let him go....but he'll never survive winter (or the neighborhood cats). Any ideas of what to do w/this guy? I don't want to buy another cage.
