I went to DD#1's soccer game this morning. I set up my chair and started to read my paper, then my new People magazine. I was sitting away from the other moms because I was wearing a sweatshirt, and it got hot in the sun, so I sought out some shade.
At the end of the game we scored a goal which I thought tied it up. I was very happy! I got up and packed up my chair and moved down to chat with some moms. When the whistle blew I said "oh good, I'll take a tie" and the other moms said "no, we won, 2-1."
I was so engrossed in my paper (and at the time DD was on the bench) I missed the first goal!!!
Guess I need some soccer mom lessons!

Whoops!!;) Bet you'll pay better attention next game, huh? :D

LOL! Were you drinking your Dunkin Donuts coffee? That could have helped the "SM" factor some. ;)
Congratulations to DD on winning her game!!!!

Well,

I was at DS's game (5YO's), more like swarm ball than actual soccer, and there were literally people YELLING at their kids to "look alive", "wake up", etc. And NOT constructively. DS's team is really not that good, but the coach we have is great, and is really focusing on the kids self esteem, and getting them the basics of dribbling, kicking, shooting, etc.

And, to top it off, the opposing coach was smoking on the sidelines. I am new to the league, so I am not sure what thier standing on this is, but it just seemed wrong to me. I mean, the game lasts all of 45 minutes.

But, it was a beautiful day on the field.

First rule of Soccer Mom'ing is to watch the game!!!

Papers and magazines are not allowed when there to watch. ;)

LOL! How funny that you thought it was a tie! :teeth:

Speaking as a coach... you just go ahead and read your papers! It's way better than some of the parents that are obnoxious on the sideline!
Some leagues have actually considered not allowing spectators at games for the U-10 leagues!
