Good idea...are you driving or flying? How long does it take you to get home? We are going 9/28-10/4 and we are doing the same thing...park 2 days, rest, park 2 more and then home (50 yo mom not as 'young' as she used to be). We are not going to parks check-in day..just going to DTD for AR at Planet Hollywood. The Sat. that we will be there, we are going to FL mall and Celebration and possibly exploring other resorts...then again, we may take a day of r & r.

I know that you will have a good time and with a 5yo DS, you will need 'down time'. I personally believe that doing Dis things for 'free', DTD, resorts, etc. is a good way to use down time..it can get exhausting for little kids and parents to be at the parks from the time they open until the time they close more than one day at a time.

We're driving from South Florida, about four hours. It's our first long trip with DS ever!!! He was at MK in 2003 because his grandfather (my father) lives in Orlando, but insisted on taking us all on Christmas Eve!!! DS was only 3 and it was packed!! We didn't do any rides, but DS LOVED the parade and the popcorn. We still have the bucket and everytime we make popcorn he asks for his "Mickey bucket."

I agree with little kids it's good to take it easy. We don't want to overwhelm him or us for that matter. It will be our first MNSSHP, so we want him awake, alert and not cranky. I'm hoping he loves it there as much as his mom does. This will be my 10th trip, the first being when I was 4. DH and I went to WDW for our honeymoon, so it's a special place for us. Sorry to ramble. I'm incredibly excited and can't wait to share "The World" with my beautiful son.
