Coming from Vermont to Orlando April 16th. 2 stops coming down, 2 stops going back. Trying to make the 1st day the longest, and the 3rd day the shortest both ways. Here's what I've got so far, feel free to make other suggestions.

April 16th- Vermont to Roanoke Rapids, NC 651 miles, according to Rand McNally 11 hours 10 minutes

April 17th Roanoke Rapids, NC to Brunswick, GA 458 miles, 8 hours 30 minutes

April 18th, Brunswick, GA to Orlando 211 miles, 3 hours 40 minutes.

Spend April 18th - 30th in Orlando

Heading out April 30th after hotel check out- close to 9 am I'd say..

Orlando to Roanoke Rapids, NC 659 miles, 11 hours, 50 minutes

May 1st, Roanoke Rapids, NC to New Haven CT, 508 miles, 8 hours 40 minutes

May 2nd New Haven, CT to home 144 miles, 2 hours, 30 minutes

I was thinking we could leave Orlando on Thursday night, after dinner, and drive back to Brunswick, GA...arriving around 10pm. Then the trip to Roanoke would be about 3 hours shorter.....

We will be stopping in New Haven on the way home, as DH grew up there, and will NEED real Italian Pizza by that time!.....I like the 2 hour drive home from there too, thats a nice slow ending to a long drive.

Maybe a stop at either the north side of SC or south NC on the way home in place of Roanoke Rapids if we dont leave on the 29th.

Our day of the 30th in Florida will be nothing anyway, as we're leaving in the AM.

Your thoughts?

"Here's my roadtrip breakdown, what do you think? " caught my eye. I believe it was the "roadtrip breakdown" that did it.

Looks like a good trip to me. Enjoy.

Your breakdown looks very good! I drove from Philadelphia, PA, and stopped in Brunswick, GA. There is a Red Roof Inn right off on the Brunswick exit that we paid $50 for (special managers rate). I would make a list of hotel phone numbers, and then when you get close to where you want to stop, call around and check out rates (this is what we did). If you have Triple AAA, I would recommend getting their Tour Books...they have them for specific regions and states and provide great information about hotels, etc. The Red Roof Inn shared a parking lot with Cracker Barrell, and there were also a McDonalds and Pizza Hut all within 5 mintues of the hotel. This one had free cookies after 7pm in the hotel lobby, as well as a free continental breakfast in the am from 6-10am. The rooms were very clean, and I will definately stay again on my future roadtrips down. Good Luck and Have Fun!
