Day 4
We planned day 4 (Wed) for Hollywood Studios. In fact we also planned another half day later in the week. I know there are some on the DIS that don’t like this park but we love DHS. In fact we like it better than AK. But with that said nothing can beat the atmosphere of the MK or the experience at Epcot.
We were going to try and get there for the rope drop but someone could not get their big old butt out of bed in time. Hmm I wonder who that would be. Yep you got it ME. Once my dw threatened to water my lilies(that is poor cold water on my sleeping face) we did our morning ritual. That is hit the concierge lounge. The morning spread in the Regatta Club is not bad for breakfast. True, it’s your typical continental breakfast items but the pastries are just sooooooo good. (wish I would have taken some pictures here)
We were greeted with fantastic weather this day. In the morning it was already 70 degrees and would hit over 80. While back at home in Northeast Ohio they were digging out of 8 inches from last night and were still going to get another 10 inches of that stuff. I was feeling pretty guilty enjoying this weather in Florida. Umm Ok, truth is I was not. LOL
These pictures of the YC and along Crescent Lake will give you an idea as to how beautiful it was going to be.
We managed to get to the park about 15 minutes after it opened. Not bad at all if you ask me. Once inside we made a dash for my DD’s favorite ride in HS. That would be the Rockin Roller Coaster. We had to have done that thing 5 times in a row. She promised to do ToT this time but backed out. Would she brave it on Saturday? I’ll let you know for day 7.
While at HS we managed to run into a real character. This guy is known to sneeze, belch, spit, and eat almost anything in site.
Now these two are more like it and a favorite of my dd.
This time around unlike in August we wanted to make sure that we hit the shows we missed. In August we did manage to catch Indiana Jones. As you can see I made a cameo appearance there. LOL
We found the Lights, Motors, Action show to be very entertaining. There are some stunts that are simple awesome to watch.
Now I did mention earlier in my report that my dw decided to try and give the American Idol Experience a try. How did she do? Well they say pictures are worth a thousand words. And trust me after my dw doing this every time she talks about it that’s about how many words she uses to describe it.(Ouch as she hits me upside the head with her shoe)
Will she be the next American Idol? No she’s to old. Ouch again as I’m hit with the other shoe. LOL But will she be one of the three to sing on stage in one of the shows.
On her way to audition. If they like her in the audition she will advance to the shows producer. If he likes her she is on the stage as one of the three.
Usually if your not doing so well in there you are out and on your way in about 15 minutes. We sat around and waited and waited and waited. Finally a cast member at the attraction went in to see how she was doing. The cast member said that she was in there at that moment singing to the producer. So did she get that magical yellow card to compete on the stage.
She sure did!! But the last time I saw thumbs up like that on someone was years ago with the Fonz. I sure dated myself with that comment.
She ended up competing on at the 2:00pm show. They did several shows that day and the winner of each show competes at 7:00 for the winner of that day. Here’s some pictures of her on the stage.
Now for the defining moment. The first judge said she was incredible. The second judge told her that not only was she smart(reference to her career) but she had talent and could sing. The final judge also named Simon(what a coincidence) said it was not great nor was it bad. He made some attempt at being the real Simon, which meant it was not a glowing review. Oh well. I should say that my dw sang I hope you dance by Leanne Womack.
The winner was the girl in the middle. I will admit that she was very good. For that matter they were all good. The talent up on that stage at least for this show was not karaoke at all. But it was still a lot of fun for my dw.
Finally we headed over to Epcot and had dinner at the Coral Reef. Our ADR’s were for 6:50pm. We were a little worried about some reviews at this restaurant. However we kept them and actually enjoyed the dinner. We were given a seat in the rear of the restaurant. We asked nicely if we could have a closer seat to the aquarium they were very accommodating. We were seated right on top of the tank.
After dinner we were pretty tired and decided to head back to the YC enjoy a drink or two in the concierge lounge and get ready for a big day tomorrow at Epcot.
A quick moment of my dd being her typical silly self. (yes some say she’s a little me)
Oh, how could I ever forget to mention the most horrendous Disney dining experience I have ever had. We did have lunch right after my dw’s American Idol audition. Right across the way was the ABC Commissary. I thought how convenient. How wrong I was. That place was horrible. The burger I had belongs in the Canadian pavilion at Epcot as a hockey puck. I don’t want to say it was horrible but it was horrible. My two ladies settled on some Cuban sandwich. It was even worse than my burger. I will never eat at that place again.
I’m done for day 4. Up next Epcot and our experience at Boma’s.
