I knew I wanted to make a bag to carry around at Disney. I came up with this pattern as a way to also collect signatures. I am over the top about Minnie and when I found I could easily get her signature at the Epcot Character Meet and
Greet I knew I could not pass her up!

Here's the front:

For the day I got the signatures I slide in a plain file folder. This gave the bag enough firmness so the characters could sign. Can you tell it was 93 almost the whole week? The bag kind of melted.

Learning to sew is something I think most people can do IF they have a good machine. The problem is people think, "Oh I'm just beginning so I'll pick up a cheap machine at Walmart." (And yes I know that many people have inexpensive machines that they love and work well. I'm just talking about my own personal experience.)

Then the machine jams, and the tension is all wrong and the sewer thinks it's them, when really it's the machine. If you go to JoAnn Fabrics you can try out a cheap machine all the way up to super duper expensive.

After the good machine, you just practice sewing a straight line. Something like a bag is perfect for a beginning project. You do not want your first project to be a shirt or something that has to "fit." Then you will get frustrated.

Give sewing a try!!

that would have been a cute idea for a gift for someone. Make it and get it signed. Wish I would have seen this in August. I went with my sister and would have loved to do this for my girls since they stayed behind with my DH.

Thanks for the idea for future trips...You did a great job.

Your bag is so cute! DD17 takes a pair of jeans with her to get signatures. Then I embroider them (in a character-appropriate color) when we get home. They're getting pretty full now...she only has the cuffs left. Luckily she's full grown so she won't outgrow them!

I'm going to move this over to our DISigns board, where we usually find our crafty threads.
