Here We Go Again! - The Saga of Changing Resorts

I wonder if I will ever make one resort reservation and stick with it.

For the January trip we were booked at the Polynesian. When the Disney Visa code came out there weren't any opening for our time frame with the code so we switched to the GF (and actually saved $200!).

Our July trip is a Magical Gathering. We are taking all of our kids, their respective spouses, grandchildren as well as our own younger kids (making a total of 15). First we thought of booking CBR then realized the main pool being closed would be too inconvenient, then we were going to book the Poly but decided to save some money and we booked WL. DH and I, as well as the younger kids were going to stay one week at WL for the Grand Gathering and when everyone left we would switch to the GF for another week.

Now I know tons of people love WL and it is a beautiful resort but there was something gnawing at me that it just wasn't the resort for us. So I called this morning and we are now booked at YC - which we loved. So now we are staying at YC the whole time. We gave up one night on our second week trip, so we are only spending about $500 more than our original WL/GF split.

Please tell me I'm not alone with my indecisiveness. I don't think we have ever ended up staying the first place we booked since 2003!

I think you made a great choice in YC. There is something for everyone there and you're next door to Epcot!!! I, too have a hard time deciding on the "perfect" resort for us and spend lots of time trying to make sure it's the right one. Have a great time!!!

When the codes came out I changed from a mod Resort twice from my original ressie!!! Now I think I am Satisfied with the OKW studio we have for Jan..but we will see if I stick with that or upgrade yet again!!

You did the right thing. If something about WL was just not sitting well with you, it's a good thing you switched. Hopefully those great codes will come out again for YC in July. I might be there, too!

You did the right thing. If something about WL was just not sitting well with you, it's a good thing you switched. Hopefully those great codes will come out again for YC in July. I might be there, too!

I keep thinking that eventually we'll meet up!

I feel so good now, WL just wasn't the right resort for us. I know we love GF (for January trip) and we love YC (for July trip) so for us it's a win-win.

We've had really good rates the last two years for YC in July so I'm keeping my fingers crossed because this trip really is costing us a bundle!!!

Usually I make a ressie and stick with it.

However, for the FTP package in 2003, we started out at CR (I always wanted to stay there!), went to OKW, and finally ended up at YC Club Level!

In December 2003, made semi-spontaneous decision to go in December (about 6 weeks out). CSR was the only moderate available for that visit. Easy decision!

For December 2004, ressies were made well in advance for PC. I liked the idea of a value resort, but didn't particularly like the All Star resorts--primarily due to location. Very easy!

October 2006, automatially selected PC for free dining program. Still liked it!

December 2006. BFF decided on PC. Had to cancel, as 75% of the group was sick.

December 2007. Made ressies for PC for 10 nights. Hmmmmmm...what if.....Changed it to 7 nights PC and 3 night YC Club Level!

Oh my gosh, I changed soo many times on our last trip, and am so happy we ended up at YC!! We loved it....very comparable to GF in my opinion.
Its a great location, SAB....great CM's....we were spoiled by the CL Cm's
We ended up buying DVC....so now more choices!! lol

You are so not alone. Dh and I are going for a no kids, adults only vacation in May. I have called Disney and booked BW, BC, YC, and Poly. 2 nights ago I put a down payment on poly. Now, I am hoping I stick to it.

Been there. I went from the CR to the Poly, GF, Pop, FW, and now I'm back to CR, haha!

Wow!! This was me last year. We went ahead with WL, everyone told us to at least try it. We had a great time by the way. We had a very long resort-changers thread so I feel comfortable saying you are NOT alone. So many choices, so little time. . We got the chance to visit other resorts so it should be easier making a decision this time though we are talking Disney cruise or Disneyland this time (MORE CHOICES). I must say I still hear AKV calling my name followed by a Poly echo......it's a sickness we all suffer from . Just remember, this probably won't be your last trip so take your time and try them all.
