Here now...mug confusion question.

I am getting so much misinformation about these mugs. We got them with the DDP. Can we or can we not take them into the parks and get drinks with them? Would the chip in them even allow us to. All the info is coming directly from various cast members!!

As far as I know, resort mugs can only be filled at your resort, not the parks

No. The DDP are resort mugs so you can only get free refills for them at the resorts.

You can take them into the parks but you cannot refill them in the parks. They can only be refilled at WDW resorts.

Someone tell me if I am wrong but I do believe you can use them at ANY resort,
so if you are dining at another food court, your mug will work there.

But no to using in parks. We always leave in room rather than hassle with carrying or possibly losing.

You are correct. The mugs will work at any resort.

And no, they do not work at the parks.

Refillable resort mugs are just that.
They are for the resorts.
You can take them to the parks but you are not going to get refills with them.

And that is why we find them a waste. 90% of the time we grab a drink it's on the way to or from the park. Who wants to drag a mug around all day, when it can't be used in the parks?
Of course, they were never used in the parks, even before the chips.
I continue to be shocked you encountered a CM who didn't know any of this. I guess I shouldn't be but this is such a basic thing that anyone with a name tag on should know the rule

Yes to resorts.
No to parks, although they can be taken into the parks. We usually get coffee or sodas in the morning on our way out to the parks and have the cups with us until we get back to the room. I've ben known to hang a carabineer from the stroller or my bag and slip the cup handle into that.

Some fill as they leave their resort to have on the bus and in park but There are no mugs that can be refilled at resorts and parks. Yes they work at any resort..so say you break for lunch at contemporary on a MK day.. you could refill before heading back..

Back in 2014 we were told that you could use them at the parks so we would just wander into quick service restaurants and fill them up. We later found out that we were not really supposed to do that so we did not buy them this year. It's kid of a waste since we spend most of our time in the parks.

What QS restaurants were you refilling at?
I have not eaten at all QS locations but the only one I know of located within the parks that you refill your own drink is BOG and you have never been able to just "wander in".

we fill up the mugs before we leave for the park and transfer them to easier to carry containers.

You aren't suppose to fill up there but nobody polices it. At DHS I know people who buy a drink in the morning at Backlot and then continue to go back through out the day to refill it.

The aren't suppose to but no one is stopping you is why the resorts went to rapid refill in the first place. heck at BOG I've never been checked when I get my cup at lunch and know people who haven't paid who just helped themselves since there was no one tracking them. It is what you feel comfortable with. I am shocked they haven't gone to free style like Universal. We bought the mugs there (especially when we found out you can bring them back and pay half price for the day) because you can refill at any freestyle machine all day which included sports drinks as well as soda.

Hm wasn't even thinking about Electric Umbrella and Sunshine Seasons.
I have never even thought to get refills at either of those.
I have not eaten at Backlot Express or Restaurantosaurus so I was unaware they have refill stations.

We use them in the park.....fill them with water for drinking...
Usually stop and get coffee for the buses in the morning, rinse them at the park during a bathroom break.
This way we don't need to buy water bottles

We don't either. We get it for free, in a cup with ice, at the QS counters.

Not only can they not be used in the parks, they cannot even be taken into the parks. Once you cross a threshold (it varies at each park, but about 20 feet past the tapstyle), the chip will cause your mug to self destruct.
