Here now . . . (June 1-7) VERY hot

we went a few years ago in June. it WAS hot. you just truly have to prepare for the heat. we went early, left after lunch, rested at the resort, and went back into the parks for the evening. we also did all we could to stay hydrated and cool.

my sister and i took my kids on that trip. my DH had already vowed he would never visit WDW in the summertime (we went one August for our anniversary).

We went in August of 2010 after some very cold Jan. trips. I loved the heat! Of course, I'm ALWAYS cold, so any chance of really hot weather makes me happy. I'd love to go back in the summer, but it looks like our next trip will be in Jan. again.

What several PP's have said is true. There is nothing like a couple of way too cold trips to make you appreciate the hot trips!

As a native, I am required by Florida statute to laugh uncontrollably at this thread. Sorry, but I'm a rule follower.

I felt the same way when I saw the title. I do sympathize, OP. I'm practically a Fl native (raised here from the age of 7) and I still feel like I'm going to melt every summer. The beginning is the worst because I'm not used to it.

The best strategy for WDW in the summer is do rope drop, leave at or right after lunch, and come back at or after dinner. Do the pool and nap in the afternoon.

The OP is correct, it was unbelievably hot here today. Heat index reached 108. This is my 11th trip to Disney and I have never seen it this hot. We got to MK at RD, left by 2:00 because we couldn't tolerate the heat any more. I gave away my fast passes rather than walk to Under the Sea, then I literally started to pass out while driving to the townhome and hit a median. Thankfully nobody was hurt and I snapped out of it right away, I have never, ever had that happen before in my life so that tells you how hot it is.

We're going July 14-21. Always go in the summer, so we are as used to the heat as we can be, LOL. We make sure we're there at rope drop and by 12, noon at the latest, we're outta there and back to our room or vacation home. We swim, rest, read, etc. and then head back around 6 and close a park down. We also do rides with outside queues first and then the ones with inside queues(ahh....AC)

We'll be in Florida tomorrow. My friend asked me tonight if I had looked at the forecast. I said why bother. It's going to be way too hot with afternoon thunderstorms. It appears I was right! :lmao:

Arrived yesterday. It was warm but cloudy. Today is SUPER hot. We have Frogg Toggs and mister fans, but it is HOT!! We have tried to stay in as much as we can, Little Mermaid, etc. as son as we leave an attraction it feels like we are melting. This is gross, but literally sweat rolling down your head and your back. Yuck!! I'm from the South and thought we would be okay, but we are pretty miserable. I love Disney, but never again in the summer.

What was the temp?

My family of 4 including a 4 and 5 year old were in MK from 8-5. While we were hot and sweaty, we had a blast and the kids never griped once. We stayed well hydrated and took several breaks inside. We are from southern AL so that probably does help. It was toasty at there.

Here now too and yeah it was hot, but last year we were swimming in Tropical Storm Debby so we are thrilled. Yesterday we did MK from rope drop to 11:30, then pool break, then back from 3:30 to 8:00. Today we had an 8:10 breakfast at Crystal Palace, then did the park until 2:00, then decided to come back for pool time. We were going to return to MK but we just decided to stay in the pool because I limited pool time to 1 hour yesterday. I had booked a surprise appointment at BBB for dd and I needed time to get her hair dry (it's very thick). We have another MK day planned though.

The pool was great and we stayed a long time. Eventually, we were asked to leave the pool when lightening was spotted in the area. Some guy who looked to be about 60 refused to get out. One of the lifegards and his wife were standing on the side begging him to get out and he just kept splashing water. My 10 year-old asked me why he would act that way. I had no answer. So beyond all of the people who stop in the middle when they are supposed to move all the way down, which we've also seen a lot of the last couple of days. I think he had finally agreed to get out by the time we got on the elevator.

We do have one more MK day planned but we're hitting Epcot tomorrow. The misting fans work well and the palm size personal fans put out really cool air,

I have to agree with some previous posters, it was warm today but not unusually so.

More like springtime hot but not summer hot. It was only around 90 degrees with humidity of 60 or 70 percent.

We did have a pretty impressive lightning storm around 830 though.

We always go in August and hot just doesn't even seem to begin to describe it. We manage though. I think part of that is it is very hot and humid where we are too so by the end of the summer we've acclimated as much as we can. However today I am in jeans and a thin sweater and I was chilly. If you were to drop me in Orlando right now it would be a shock to the system.
Fun can still be had in the summer but you sure have to plan for the heat and take it easy.

The OP is correct, it was unbelievably hot here today. Heat index reached 108.

Not sure where you got this information, but it's not true. I just looked it up and the high today was 88 with a heat index of 95.

Maybe it was one of those mass hysteria situations at Disney today?

Hang in there OP :thumbsup2 If you are not used to going to WDW between the months of May-September it may take you a couple days to get used to the climate, but you are there now so try to focus on having fun, stay hydrated, and keep up with your planned methods for heat relief. We were just at WDW the week leading up to Memorial Day and we were so happy with the weather. It only rained in the afternoon of the first two days we were there and the rest of our week it didn't rain at all. During our trip it was hot with temps ranging from 84-90 degrees. To many people that may seem really hot but we loved it because our only frame of reference was our last WDW trip which was in August 2011. We didn't have the heavy humidity or daily, afternoon downpours that we had during our August trip so we were pretty content.

That's why I wondered the temp/humidity. Very hot is relative. Thanks. I'd take this or hotter vs a tropical weather system with lots of rain.

LOL, that is too funny. I could totally see alot of guys I know saying "screw you all. I am hot and NOT get getting out! "

The heat and humidity of a FL summer can break even the most determined spirit.

It is still possible to have fun, though. :) Just remember to seek out shade, drink LOTS of water, watch shows in the A/C and head to the pool when it gets to be too much.

I love swimming at Disney in June because it is so hot! I am never cold, I really love that!

We have been several times in June and we know it is hot and you sweat in places you didn't know could sweat like that!

We know what we are in for when we visit in 12 days for 2 weeks. We are excited!!

:)

It gets hot and humid in Kentucky, but the hottest I think I have ever been was in DW during F! The backs of my knees were sweating! It was gross. Who would think it could be so hot after the sun goes down.

We are heading to the beach at the end of the week so I was looking at the extended forecast and noticed it wasn't very hot recently. I guess it's really humidity, as others have said. Either way, it feels hot I suppose. Hopefully that breeze off the ocean will keep me happy!
