Booked a 8 day ticket with park hopper thru a travel agent and want to add an extra day now that were here, went to concierge at beach club and they said the total to add an extra day would be $160 for 2 people she also said to try guest relations at any park to see if they could give me a better price. I've got no problems with paying the $$ I just want to make sure the information I got is correct, thanks in advance.

You do have to pay the full difference between the 8-day convention ticket price and the new 9-day ticket price. Guest Relations is the only place to attempt an upgrade to a convention ticket.

That sounds about right. Conventions doesn't sell a 9 or 10 day ticket, so when you upgrade, you have to pay full price as there is no convention price available. From AllEars:

Magic Your Way Tickets (MEETING/CONVENTION):

· Upgrades are available at Guest Relations, Resorts & Swan and Dolphin Only

· Magic Your Way Meeting & Convention Tickets ARE upgradable. Convention Guests may modify their tickets at Guest Relations and Resorts Concierge while on-site (up to 14 days from first use as long as there are entitlements remaining). Note: When upgrading Magic Your Way Meeting & Convention Tickets, upgrades to 2-Day through 8-Day tickets are available.

· Guests wishing to upgrade Magic Your Way Meeting & Convention Tickets to Gate Priced 9-Day, 10-Day or Annual Passes may do so by paying the full price difference between the Magic Your Way Meeting & Convention Ticket price and the ticket of choice. If the Water Park Fun & More visit has been used, then the Guest must purchase a ticket with Water Park Fun & More or a Premium Annual Pass.

· Convention Epcot After 4 PM Tickets and Convention After 2 PM Tickets are not upgradable.

That makes total sense, you can't upgrade something if there isn't an option in the system, thanks for the response.

I've booked pre-arrival convention tickets through a travel agent in the past, and the agent has said that they are non-changeable/non-upgradable after arrival. Curious to see if that's the same type of ticket you have and if Guest Relations was able to help. Good luck!

Those usually are non-upgradable/non-changeable and I believe if GR does it they are doing it as a courtesy not because they have to. I had ones purchased from Disney (well runDisney) and was told unfortunately they couldn't upgrade them. The upgrade I was quoted was 500 bucks which was the regular prices of the full ticket.

They are upgradeable up to 8 days as that is the maximum length on a convention ticket. If you go beyond that (9 or 10 days or an AP), there is no convention discount and you would have to pay the full price, price difference. TA's probably don't advertise this because if a CM doesn't know how to do it (and we've seen this happen even with regular ticket upgrades), the TA gets a call or text and it's very, very difficult to handle on-site issues once a guest has arrived and checked in. It's easier to have a client decide what kind of ticket they want pre-arrival so there are no issues at the resort.
