Here is September 11th as it happened on the DIS...very long

No one will ever forget and no one will ever get over it. The sense of fear we all felt that day is still very real. I want to thank you for putting the posts from that day here for those of us new Disers to read. I am so glad that you all had each other that day to talk to.

I don't know if I'll ever forget. I was DISing and listening to news radio. They broke in to say that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center......probably a general aviation aircraft. I posted a quick thread about it and went to turn on the TV. Sure enough, it was on CNN in a minute or two. I thought the gaping hole in the building was even shaped like a plane. Everyone was saying that it may have been pilot error or the navigation system. Everyone was just talking and staring at it. One person mentioned terrorism and the CNN interviewer said we shouldn't jump to any conclusions. When the second plane hit, they didn't know what it was at first. When they realized what it was, all the broadcasters went silent as the horrible truth was too much to comprehend or comment on. Then the hysteria began.

Such an awful day whose horrors will probably never fade from my memory.

Thanks for taking the time to do that... as I was in a meeting when it took place, stayed there for the TV coverage for a long while...

Lots of memories of that day... as we all have.... remembering walking outside, looking at sky, wondering if Disney a target etc...

Also really remember meeting up with TVT here, hours after it happened, as a fellow DIS'er alone here at AK when it happened...

Thanks for taking the time to do this!
Reading all the posts just gives me goosebumps! I am in tears. I will never forget that day.:( :( :( :(

Thank you for posting this. I remember what a difficult day that was. The DIS really helped me through it, and I mean that sincerely. I was away at college and y'all were my support group that day. I'll never forget the threads asking all NY DISers to check in and the MANY threads that simply contained the words to God Bless America and the Star Spangled Banner. I will never forget the wonderful international DISers who rallied to our support. I will never forget the tears streaming down my face as I read those threads for the first time. I feel so blessed to be part of this community. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

I heard about it on the school bus on the way to school. At first i didn't believe it, but everyone was just sitting in silence on the bus listening to the radio. Then in my 1st per. class we watched it on TV and saw both buildings collapse, it was soo tragic. My prayers go out to all of those who were effected by these acts of terrorism on our country.

chills. Thanks for posting and taking the time to do this.

I was droping John-Cole off at school and on my way to work when I heard about the first plane. I remember thinking hum a plane hit the building. My first thought was human error and a small plane or maybe someone committing suicide (again a small plane) then when I made it to work the second plane had hit and then the Pentagon. We all just stood and stared at the TV. I remember thinking that I just wanted to go home and be with my family.

My mom came to my work at lunch and she admits to me now that she honestly thought it was the beginning of the end of the world. We left for Disney that Friday and I remember perfect strangers just hugging each other and the feeling of unity. Met a lost of DISers and will never forget. I can remember being in line for Space Mountain with TennTony and Ray Sharpton and talking about what would happen next and if WDW was a possible target.

I was at work, almost ready to come home when I heard about it. As soon as I got home I turned on the news and couldn't believe my eyes.
As soon as I got over the initial shock I ran in here to be with all of you. I kept running from my computer to the tv and back.

I think if the people here weren't family before that terrible day, we became one.

Thank you for taking the time and work to repost this.

:( It was a sad and scary day... I remember being on the dis and watching the news all day.......:(

I was at work, and I work for an Audio/Video retailer, so we have radios, stereos, and tvs all over the office. I remember our service techs telling us about the first plane, and then watching in horror as #2 went in. Then the news that the planes had flown out of Logan....

What I do remember is that the president of our company called EVERYONE together at about 11am and basically said, "If you want/need to go home, go" "If you need to stay and be around other people, stay" "I don't want ANYONE going home to sit alone and watch this" He then set up about 20 TVs throughout different common areas in the office.

*phew* it was such a tragic day, and I too, had a hard time reading all of jennymouse's thread.

I was driving to work... My husband was on a United flight. It was a long morning and I was blessed he was safe. I was 2 1/2 months pregnant and saying I was scared does not begin to describe how it felt. I'm still praying...

Much appreciation for taking the time to do this. I was away that day and wasn't able to get on the boards... but it's quite moving to read some of the reponses that day and look back upon what happened. :(

Thank you for posting. . . . .

I was at Epcot on that day, on vacation with the family. . . .

pixie dust, I don't get why you bumped up a 4 year old thread.

This poster seems to be bumping a lot of old threads...I guess they are bored. :confused3

I thought it was interesting.

I had missed that thread the first time around. :guilty:

I watched that video. OMG, I'm sitting here crying. I really did forget. It was such a horrible day and weeks following.
