"Here I go again! On my own??" Solo in May 2017 PTR **updated 4/29

Well I fell massively behind, but just binge read the last few weeks. Sounds like your plans for May are coming along great and awesome you have another trip book in October. Loving all the cute shirts you bought. I have very few disney shirts cause I have a hard time finding ones that are v-neck. I can't stand to have anything around my neck, but it seems most of the cute things are crew neck. Oh well, guess I'll have to live vicariously through all the cute shirts you buy :-)

I can't believe you found @ariane37 Mickey shirt at the store. That thing is so awesome, I'm shocked to see they still had them in stock :P

Single Digit day :dogdance::dogdance:

9 days left...can't believe it!

I will try to get another update in today, but there's all kinds of school craziness going on!!

Happy Friday!!

Your trip is so close!! Have you started packing yet?

Your trip is so close!! Have you started packing yet?

Umm...no...

I have *thought* about packing, or at least I have said, "I need to figure out what the heck I'm taking." Does that count??? :rotfl:

So when we run into each other on our trips, when I say, "well, I am having a great time but I forgot x, y, and z..."
you can reply, "You should have packed earlier you crazy person!!"

A lot of the etsy sellers or small shops have v neck versions of their shirts. I only avoid them because I'm too afraid to order women's shirts online and prefer the unisex t-shirts because sizing seems to be more consistent. That tank top I ordered is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I'm SO NERVOUS that it won't fit. I'm weird!! Online shopping causes me so much anxiety and I do it anyway, LOL!!

Stores like Target do seem to be pretty limited in anything outside of a crew neck though...unless they're in the junior's section, which is kind of a pain in terms of fit...because I also hate to try things on. Basically when it comes to shopping, I'm just a mess all around :rotfl:

Right?? How is there not a waiting list for that Mickey shirt?? haha!!

I'm pretty sure that shirt is in such high demand that they're in like, the 10th printing of it :rotfl2:

Agree. It's an iconic fashion piece!

I'm late to this one and I have to go back and read through the whole thread, but I can't believe this is how the drama with your MIL ended up! Talk about entitled, wow. She's a piece of work but at least you tried! And now you get to have a fun trip where you get to do whatever you want!

hello and welcome!!

LOL, MIL texted me last night that she was sad she wasn't going. I was like...what??

She is currently booked for a trip to Ireland (not even Scotland like she was talking about o_O) with a friend this summer. She's freaking out about flying again, and I wonder if she'll actually go on THAT trip.

Oh well!!

I am so ready to do whatever I want and not worry about anyone else! (at least not worry about what anyone else wants at WDW...I'll surely be worrying about DH and the kids back home!!)

My method of packing is basically me sticking all the things I anticipate traveling with on the couch. (We have a love seat and a couch, so everyone has a 'place to sit' that isn't sitting with someone else.) So I put all of my stuff on the couch and pack from there, since my room is the size of a computer den. I can't find anything if I pack in here. So I've been storing things, like my Universal lanyard and wand and ear phones, etc, in various things that I took out to the couch. That's basically how I pack.

If you forget something, Disney'll have a lookalike or you can Uber/Lyft to Target or Walmart. I promise not to call you a crazy person. :) I overpack and never need half of the things I bring.

Your MIL is crazy. I would be so sad to miss out on a Disney trip, too, but if I made that decision for myself... Like. Oh well! What she did wasn't cool. So when you go home post-amazing trip, you'll have to tell her aaaall about it. Because you know your trip is going to be a thousand times better than hers. ;)

No freaking way! This woman would drive me to drink, and I'm allergic to alcohol. (Also, Ireland is definitely a longer flight. Not surprised. I totally called it.) (Also, are Ireland and Scotland just interchangeable? Jeesh.) No wonder she wishes she could go - your plans sound fabulous!! Though I have a feeling you're not going to be back at the hotel before 6pm every night, or eat a full breakfast within 15 minutes of waking up every morning... This woman has turned into the personification of the expression "face palm" for me. Oh well, her loss! Like water off a duck's back, I always say.

Good morning, good morning!!

I don't have time for an update today, but I should tomorrow! I feel like I keep saying that and something always pops up o_O

Here is a mini-rundown of what is going on this week...6 DAYS FROM THE TRIP!!

- Today a few volunteers are running the office for the secretaries at school for Administrative Professionals Day (the kids start testing this week, so today is the easiest day)

- Visiting businesses and asking for donations for silent auction baskets (OM fundraiser)

- Working out how to get popsicles frozen for Wednesday with the cafeteria workers. OM will be selling them after school that day.

- district PTO board meeting Weds

- popsicle sales Weds

- OM meeting Weds

- dye my hair at some point

- help DH make grocery list/meal plan/kid lunch plan for the week

- pack

- no school Friday, but we are meeting for OM

- finish any shopping left to do before the trip

- do all the laundry and clean the house so it's a blank slate for DH and the kids next week

- stress out

- cry a little

LOL!!

I ordered two pairs of flip flops for the trip and the Sanuks arrived Friday, the Tevas should get here today. The Jambo shirt from Main Street Press should also be arriving today. I hope I come home from school to lots of happy mail!!

Have an amazing Monday!!

Ugh your MIL is a piece of work! She had her chance and now it's too late. And your list is sooo long! Just remember that you don't HAVE to do all of those things. Like it will be okay if you don't get all the laundry and cleaning done so don't stress out about it.

Haha! She really is. I love her but she stresses me out!!

Can you come here and hang out with me and remind me that I don't have to do all the things?? I need a life coach!!

I am currently crying my way through the Bates Motel finale. I will distract myself by starting...

Chapter Thirteen: It's the Final Countdown

Guys! I am five days away from this trip!!

Last week my Sanuk flip flops for the trip came...this is a stock photo b/c none of the ones I took looked very good:

Yesterday my new Tevas arrived

along with my Jambo Means Hello shirt from Main Street Press. You all know how excited I was about this shirt! It came wrapped with brown paper and a little Maui sticker:

I'm not sure why the color and size of the pictures are so weird!! It's a light mint green color, this is the actual shirt:

Now for the bad news...this shirt was so disappointing! It's a bella canvas shirt, which is a brand I love in tees, but this is paper thin and see through. Super flimsy and clings to every teeny tiny flaw. I am between a medium and large in tshirts and tanks and sometimes an XL in button ups b/c of my bra size (sorry, TMI, but a constant struggle!), so I got this in a large thinking I could layer it if I needed to if it was too big.

It fits and looks the best with a sports bra, but the neckline is REALLY low, and the arm holes are big. The material is such that layering is really hard, because the thin fabric sticks to whatever is underneath and it is really unflattering. It's a good length, falling to mid-hip, but again, that darn material...it doesn't lay flat or hang nicely over the waistband of anything. Even the tiniest seam in my tightest leggings shows through and somehow manages to look bulky and weird. I am wearing it now with some thin sweat pant capris and a long sweater, but I don't think I'm going to need a sweater for a 90 degree Animal Kingdom day. I'm so sad!! I am going to go look for a more form fitting cami today and try to see if I can make that work with it. It's such a pretty color, and I want it to be more than just an around the house shirt, you know??

The shop opens again late tonight, and I think I'm going to try and get the t-shirt version that I really wanted in the first place. It won't be here for this trip, but at least I'll have it for October.

I think the only thing I have left to talk about trip wise is my departure day, right? So let's get into that...

...there's not much to get into, once again I have no set plan. Who AM I???

The DME won't pick me up until later in the afternoon, so I have most of the day to go to a park or something. I will get up and around, take my bags to RAC and leave my carry on with bell services, and then...??

Originally I had planned to go to Animal Kingdom, so I wouldn't be too far from the resort, but I'm not sure if that's still what I'll do. I will probably pick whichever park I feel like I didn't spend enough time in throughout the week. I may even try to do all four parks in one day. We shall see! If I did that, I think I would start in MK, then Epcot, then DHS, then Animal Kingdom.

That's it for now! I will pop in over the next few days as I try to maintain my sanity through the whirlwind of the rest of the week!!

I'm actually going to start packing today I think!! It feels like such an enormous undertaking :crazy2: I tend to overpack too, because I don't want to be caught without something I'll need...and you just never know what will come in handy!!

My MIL is a little crazy, god love her. I will definitely be telling her all about my fun and taking SO MANY flower pictures.

No freaking way! This woman would drive me to drink, and I'm allergic to alcohol. (Also, Ireland is definitely a longer flight. Not surprised. I totally called it.) Haha!! I said the same thing about the Scotland/Ireland thing. They're barely making any plans and want to "walk along the fields and sheep farms". We're like, don't get arrested for trespassing. I don't understand!!

Personification of face palm is an EXCELLENT way of describing it!!

Haha! She really is. I love her but she stresses me out!!

Can you come here and hang out with me and remind me that I don't have to do all the things?? I need a life coach!!

Haha first I have to start practicing what I preach.

Your thread has been making me want to shop lately. I need new flip flops. Those are both cute! Bummer about the tank. I hate clingy material like that.

5 more days, how crazy!!

I'm sorry to hear about the shirt, that is such a bummer!

Your open ended departure day plans sound good..no matter what you will do it will be fun getting that last little bit of Disney magic!

A day celebrating moi? :p Too bad my company doesn't do anything for it :rotfl:

Haha!! I said the same thing about the Scotland/Ireland thing. They're barely making any plans and want to "walk along the fields and sheep farms". We're like, don't get arrested for trespassing. I don't understand!!

You're MIL is quite a character  I'm laughing so hard at "walk along the fields and sheep farms"

I am the same way!

Out of the two flip flops, I like the sanuks the best. I would recommend those to anyone needing new flip flops. Those or YellowBox mellowmat - they're my favorites, but I didn't find any I liked this year.

The tank top made me so sad!! I got a navy cami today to go under it, but I haven't had the guts to try it out yet. I hope I can make it work because I want to wear it!

5 more days, how crazy!!

I know! 5 days is nuts! And I keep putting things off...Saturday is going to be insane I just know it, trying to cram everything in at the last minute.

I am definitely going to get in as much Disney magic as I possibly can on that last day!! I'm really really REALLY ready for an escape from reality, and I'm going to have a hard time letting go of this trip. Thank goodness for trip reports!!

Sad about the shirt :( But I'm so excited for your trip!

The shirt thing is super sad  But...definitely excited about the trip and the 9 gallons of violet lemonade I plan to ingest. (and a Reggie's Revenge at Jock Lindsey's!)

:cheer2:

Your company doesn't do anything for admin. professionals day?? That is LAME!! They should get you flowers and send you to lunch. Or at least give you a gift card or something.

I'm glad someone can commiserate on the shirt issue! It's so frustrating, and makes me hate shopping.

She legitimately thinks they will just like, wander through fields along dirt roads or something! And along stormy sea cliffs, or whatever other romantic ideas she has in her head. If you ask what they have planned she just says, "We're going to the Northern Coast". She can't even give you any town or city. We roll our eyes and shake our heads a lot :sad2:
