To all newbies like myself,
We just bought our points at VWL and SS this winter, 630 to be exact. I was being frugal and wanted a studio at VWL this trip, but had to move to a one bedroom mid week because no studio available. So, here I am in VWL, moved in the 3rd, and to one bedroom yesterday the 7th to the 13th. WOW, what a difference in the one bedroom.

The studio is similar to a room at a deluxe - just like the WL room except there is a little kitchenette. The one bedroom is HUGE!!!, I would guess almost 3 times as big. There is a nice dining table with 4 chairs and a high chair, a large living room with pull out sofa, nice kitchen, plenty of room for little ones to play, a king size bed in bedroom, huge area with the most wonderful jacuzzi tub which is to die for at the end of a day in the parks, large vanity and sink, and then a separate room with commode and stall shower! We are on the 5th floor (top) at VWL, in a corner room. The front faces the quiet pool and lake, with two lovely windows, then the corner has an open patio with view of pool and lodge, then another large window next to that, and the bedroom has a loft ceiling and a patio off the bedroom. This patio has the "wall" that is about 3 feet high, but lovely view and seating. I am so impressed with this. I doubt I will want to ever stay in a studio again.

Can't wait to get over to SS to see the rooms there. They are open 2-5 for members to tour. According to my pamphlet, the Boardwalk has model rooms open too.

I wish I had made the decision years ago to join rather than dumping all that money in WL, POR, AKL etc 4 weeks a year. But, better late than never!

We are staying in 2 bedroom villas in October when we bring the grandbabies and I think it will be awesome!

Just love Disney and having the time of my life! :cheer2:

If you are in one of those corner rooms overlooking the pool with a different floor plan, I would love to see some pictures of that room. I definately has a different floor plan. :thumbsup2

Have a great stay!

Great to hear that you are thoroughly enjoying the luxury of your DVC purchase. As lisareniff indicated, you have a room with a slightly different configuration than most of the 1BR's. It's pretty much the same layout as the others except for where they place the balcony, etc.

And you now know why so many people here think that "once you try a 1BR, it's hard to go back to a studio"! It uses up a lot more points but it really is a great way to vacation if the points allow.

Thanks for the update, and I hope the rest of the trip is just as great!

yes those 1 bedroom can spoil you for sure....

but with 630 points - I think you can still do pretty good. just leave off a fri/sat once in a while...

Glad you are enjoying your trip, wish I was there.

After you leave, post the room number so others might be able to request this room on their trips. (Wouldn't want you to do it now because of security reasons)

When I get back I will post the pictures and room number. It is a lovely view and beautiful room. Maybe they gave me this room after my check fiasco as check in! Disney would not take my check - telecheck would not guarantee it - code 3, and no definitive reason why!

Can't wait to find out the room number to request for our trip. New DVC member myself and bought 150 @ VWL!! Thanks for the info. :-)
:wave2:

I've always wondered about those corner rooms. Can't wait to see the pictures!

The room is 5519. I will post photos soon.

Thats great we just got back Sun from a 2 bdrm in SSR the Room was great but location not that great.

We don't mind walking and it's a good thing as thats what we did.

I don't know how I will survive the Studio in DEC . OH thats right I will be in Disney in Dec so i don't care if it's a cardboard box.

The only time we have stayed in a 2 bed was in one of those corner rooms. It was on the 2nd floor and it was great!

Glad you are enjoying your purchase.

I have two 2-bedroom dedicated villas at SSR for October and can't wait to get there. I have not even seen this property, and bought sight unseen.

I hope it's everything I am expecting!

Sounds like you have about the best room on property (5th floor on that corner), but they are all good at VWL. Enjoy.

So glad to hear you are enjoying VWL!

We're kind of partial to it ourselves! :teeth:

There have been a couple of threads about Telecheck screwing around with folks' vacation plans due to that nefarious "code 3." Sorry you ran into that problem, too. However, I'm glad to hear you're loving VWL. . .we do, too. WARNING: Do not go into a 2BR or you will really get spoiled! :rotfl2:

That room has some wonderful features, but we really didn't feel it was a good option for more than 2 people in the room. The closet space seemed significantly less than other 1 BRs we've had at VWL and, as I recall, we wondered where people sleeping on the pull out in the LR would put their things.

Yeah! So happy to hear you like the one bedroom. We have previously stayed in a studio at VWL and are staying in a one bedroom for the first time in Jan '07. I can't wait (esp. after reading your enthusiastic post!!!)!
