I'm hopelessly new and can't seem to figure out the whole DDP thing.

I can't find any definitive list of which restaurants/character meals require 1 TS and which require 2 TS.

Here are the places I'd like to hit up during our stay:

Mickey's BBQ
T-Rex
Crystal Palace
Donald's Safari - TH
Whispering Canyon
'Ohana
Aloha
Fulton's Crab House
Coral Reef
Pizza Planet
Chef Mickey's

I think some of those might be CS. I feel like I need a spreadsheet. I almost regret having gotten the DDP because it feels like too much pressure. With two small children we're more "go with the flow" types, but I'm afraid of being stranded somewhere with no dinner because we didn't make a reservation 90 days ahead of time!

Also, can someone explain the pizza in the room thing? Does that count as 2 TS per person (so 8 TS total) or just plain 2?

T-Rex is not on the DDP.

Aloha and Mickey's are the only two that I believe are 2TS credits.

Pizza Planet is CS.

The pizza at the resort is one large pizza, 2 drinks and 2 desserts and if you pick it up at the food court it is 2CS credits, if delivered it's 2TS credits.

My neighbours had luck at DTD for getting last minute TS dining during Free Dining. They actually prefered eating there as they didn't have to make it to ADR times.

I can't find any definitive list of which restaurants/character meals require 1 TS and which require 2 TS.

Here are the places I'd like to hit up during our stay:

Mickey's BBQ Two
T-Rex As earlier posted mentioned, not taking DDP
Crystal Palace One
Donald's Safari - TH One - Donald is only here for breakfast; lunch and dinner without characters are also One
Whispering Canyon One
'Ohana One - breakfast includes Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Pluto; Dinner has no characters
Aloha Two
Fulton's Crab House Does not take DDP
Coral Reef One
Pizza Planet As mentioned earlier, this is a CS location
Chef Mickey's One

Also, can someone explain the pizza in the room thing? Does that count as 2 TS per person (so 8 TS total) or just plain 2? Each Pizza delivered to the room (along with 2 sodas/etc) requires two adult TS credits total. This does include the gratuity.

The DDP can be quite overwhelming, but for small children the character meals can be highlights of the trip if they are into classic characters and are not afraid of them.

Keep in mind too, if 'the flow' dicatates a change in plans, that you can always cancel ADRs you decide not to use by calling dining from on-property. Better safe than sorry, I always say. And if the change is because you have gone to a different park/area you can stop by guest services when you arrive in the morning and see what else may be available for that day - it's a chance thing during busy times at the parks, but still an option if you decide previously-set plans are not going to work out while you're there.

Check out the sticky at the top of the page. Everything about dining. If you scroll down that thread, there are links to the dining plan PDFs based on which one you are getting.

Go to WDWInfo home page and click on Dining. It will have menus from the restaurants as well as dining plan information. It can be a lot of fun to plan your ADRs that's one of my favorite things to do. We usually plan at least one ADR per day so that we at least have one relaxed meal - for us usually dinner so it doesn't cut into park time. A lot of days we do a character breakfast grab, counter service for lunch and then have a nice dinner. We did this even when they were little.

The first 5 posts in the DDP FAQ thread are organized to:

Post (1) Introduce the plans
Post (2) Explain the Quick Service Plan
Post (3) Explain the Regular Dining Plan
Post (4) Explain the Deluxe Dining Plan and
Post (5) FAQ Section

You can find that post http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2054845 and it's a pretty good Dining Plan Starting point.
