EEK!!! NOT ready and MANY questions

Posted this in another forum, but hoping you Canadian Disers can help me out.
I cannot believe we leave in two weeks!! I am so not ready, I have no shoes to wear!!! My flip flops from summer are worn out, as well as my sneakers beyond life.

So where to get a good pair of flip flops in the winter. I need a good pair, with a really cushy sole, I have problems with my feet. If I buy a pair of sneakers now they won't be worn in enough to prevent blisters!!?? What do I do? I'm scrambling now...

Also I need to buy luggage, what is a good brand??

Uggg.. I have been so busy with school, and just spent the last 5 days in bed with the stomach flu...I cannot believe it's only two weeks away!

Any suggestions on a good runner, good flip flops if I could find them now, and a good name for luggage would be welcome. Thanks

Stephanie

Are you opposed to Crocs?

If not, they are available lots of places I think.

I find them comfy, wouldnt run in them, but....nice.

As far as luggage...Dunno....I just use the old Crud we have.

Canadian Tire has luggage on sale - just saw it in the flyer - was reasonable and at a good discount.

I have worn the Crocs sandal with the two bands across the top of the foot (name escapes me!) and have not gotten blisters from them. I always take moleskin and other foot accessories and use them on the spots I usually get blisters and then at the sign of anything anywhere else.

You still have plenty of time, but you do need to start a box/bin somewhere handy so that you can start placing items in there as the days pass.

If I think of the name of the Crocs I'll let you know. I love them - I have two pair! I also have problem feet and they are cushy and have a bit of arch support even.

Thanks, I will check out Canadian Tire!!

I am not opposed to Crocs however, I find that my feet get very sweaty in them and I get blisters if walking for a long time. I could wear socks, but shorts with crocs and socks?? :cool2: or not??

You could also try my method....I've got some flip-flops to take with me, but I will probably try and find more comfortable ones for a better price than our great nation can offer. Since its "Summer" year round down there (to us anyway) it won't be hard to find some. As far as luggage goes.....yeeeah, can't help ya there, good luck at Can. Tire though!

Hi. Bently Luggage store at the malls have buy one get second half price.DD woul love to get the giraffe print one.
shoes- could you wait until you get down to Florida, if you are driving, stop on the way.

I am not driving and will not be renting a car, so I won't be able to get to a mall down there. I will try the sports stores here before I leave.

Thanks.

Stephanie

I was in Sport Check recently and they had flip flops quite a few brands. The Croc flip flops are the best and if you are flying into MCO there is a croc store at the airport that would probably have them.

If you are a Costco memeber they usually have good deals on luggage. I have had good luck with cheap duffel bags with wheels from WalMart. I have used it for about 10 flights and still in perfect condition even the wheels. They are light so you can have lots in them and not worry about being over the weight limit. I had a friend buy an expensive set at the same time and the wheels are broke already.

Try going somewhere like sport mart, sport chek or the running room - if you get a good pair of running shoes you shouldn't need any time to break them in. Check the weather as I'm not sure it will be warm enough to wear flip flops all day - I've been told to make sure we have hoodies, jackets, hats and mittens but we might need shorts during the day..... will feel like home!! :lmao:

Try the sears.ca site.... the outlet has alot of summer stuff at great prices and it is usually only a few days to get to the store for you to pick up.

Bently for luggage is a good idea - great prices with the buy one get one 1/2 price. Wouldn't buy anything too expensive as the airlines just end up ruining them anyway. We always mid priced luggage and are happy if it lasts for 6+ trips.

Right, I didn't think of the weather being chilly in the am and pm. So how do people handle this? Do you go back to the resort at lunch and change?

I am thinking layers, but if I am in a fleecy or jacket, and long pants in the am and then lunch it is warm, that's alot of layers being carried. UGGHH :confused3 I have only been in August where it is sweltering in the am and the pm.

Do you think I would be better to get the crocs here or at mco with the exchange?

Stephanie

No idea how to handle the layers.... we leave 2 weeks tomorrow and are only taking 1 carry on each for a 4 day trip - we will most likely stay in our pants all day and have a sweatshirt that we will end up carrying around with us - the mitts and hats will fit into my bagalini purse! The kids both have zip off pants that they can wear and i'll pack shorts too 'just in case'. We only have 1 full park day and our other time in the park is for MVMCP so no worries about dressing there!

We are leaving the same day!!  Are you flying out of Pearson? I am staying until the 23rd.

We are staying at POP. Where are you staying>

You can likely get an inexpensive pair of flip flops at DW. They may even have them at the discount store in DTD. If there is a Disney Store near you they might have some as well. These will not be high end flip flops but good as an alternative.

I live in my Naot sandles when I am at DW. They are comfortable even when they are brand new. You should be able to get them, or something similar, at any store that carries walking shoes even at this time of the year.

If it is cold there it is generally in the evening. In the morning it will warm up fairly quickly so you should not need to have too much extra when you go to the park unless you are not planning to go back to your room until late evening.

Enjoy your trip.

We are flying out of Buffalo - got an amazing deal which is the only reason we get to go!! the boys (14yo and almost 9yo) were asking for a trip to Disney (16 months and they are going through withdrawls!!) for Cmas - then the almost 9yo turns 9 on Jan 10th and he did his sad puppy dog face and said his birthday always got pushed aside for Christmas and someday he'd really like to go to Disney for his birthday. Southwest sent out an email with a great rate of $36 each way and poof.... mom and dad waved the magic wand and we are going from the 13th to the 16th. The best part is neither one of them have a clue we are going  I'm so excited about surprising them  They won't hopefully know a thing until we get to the airport - they think we are going shopping and to see the lights at the falls. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside this time as there were no DVC resorts left.

See you in the world!!

Liquidation World has Gekko's on for $2.99 and our store has a couple of different styles, but no flip flop type ones. Mary Jane, Ballerina and the Caymen styles. I have a few pairs and wear them with or without socks and I don't get blisters.

Marks Work Warehouse has Body Glide which is like a deoderant stick that you can put on your feet to stop blisters from starting. I bought some but never needed it.

Honestly at this point..I would wear the broken in shoes no matter how bad they look. Throw them in the washer and hope for the best. Comfy is WAYYYYY more important for the tootsies when in Disney!

Have a great time!!

I was in the Adidas outlet not long ago and they had lots of nice looking flip flops and walking shoes. Not sure if there are any locations close to you but we have always found them to be a great go to for comfy shoes.
Have fun on your trip! Wish I was going.

I bought my fav pair of flip flops at a walment in feb. They were under $10.00

Thanks everyone! I have been in bed since last monday with a stomach virus, and now my son has it. As soon as we get over this, and I am able to leave the house I will check out some of these places.

Not a good time to be in bed for a week. :sad2:
