I booked a Deluxe Room at the Wilderness Lodge with Club level access. The Deluxe rooms are on levels 1-5 and the Old Faithful Lounge is on Level 7. My first instinct would be to request level 5 to be close to the CL lounge to grab breakfast. My husband was thinking to request level 1 so you don't have to deal with the elevator getting in and out the room. I am only anticipating using the lounge in the morning for breakfast. I don't have a stroller and my kids are old enough to head to the lounge by themselves. The Old Faithful Concierge had emailed me if I had any questions/requests etc and I am planning to include the room request in my email back to them. Any advice? Room numbers are great too! And yes, I know it is just a "request" lol.

You definitely do not want the ground floor. The Wilderness Lodge has a lot of masonry work around the ground floor balconies, which makes them very small. The best floors to ask for would be the 4th and higher. They will also give you the best views of Bay Lake. :)

We stayed in a Deluxe Room in Nov/Dec 2016. I wrote about it here: WL Deluxe Room-Nov 2016

Note, I was a bit down on this room given the distance to the lounge - but that's probably just unique to me/our style, so don't read too much into anything I said in my post.

My opinion is that the floor doesn't really matter - any floor is going to be about the same distance to the lounge, the only difference being the few seconds of elevator time.

I would personally rather be "higher" because the views get slightly better and more light - but you're pretty much looking at trees/foliage from any floor. I don't think I'd want first floor - it "seems" pretty dark down there.

I was in the room marked #1 on the map below (Room 3003). The other Deluxe Room on each floor is just above the top of that yellow circle (room numbers end in "00" - so the one on this floor is 3000) . If given a choice, I'd rather have a room in that location vs where ours was.

Happy to answer any questions.

We have stayed club level at WL, if staying club you want to be on the same level as the lounge and if not on the level...like in your case I would want to avoid the levels closer to the main floor so you lessen the people trying to get into the lounge level as it is restricted. No matter what year there was always people trying to get in to "get services and goods" that club level guest pay for during their vacation. It is always nice to stay at resort where access is a building (PR) vs. elevator (WL/AK).

Thanks to you both for the insight. It seems it will be a tiny trek to the lounge not matter the floor. Maybe requesting higher floor means a better view and ultimately tiny bit closer to the lounge. We can totally go down the stairs to get out if we want to avoid the elevator......cruising after our land trip and we may need to burn off some excess calories!!!!! Cant wait and thanks again!!!

Not sure if the above link will work, but if it does, it shows the outside balconies of the end rooms, including Deluxe suites, at WL. I would try to get 3rd floor or higher. The 1st and 2nd floor are completely closed in, and the stone work holds moisture and can make the whole room smell musty. We got assigned a regular room between the deluxe suites on the second floor, and I had to use my inhaler in the night due to the mustiness. We were moved the next day to a different room away from the rock work, and I had no problem.

Thank you for the heads up on this!

And thank you, OP, for starting this thread!

We have also booked a deluxe CL room at WL at Christmastime. I wasn't originally planning to make a room request, but my H and D both have asthma that might be triggered by the musty smell...so I will definitely request 3rd floor or higher!
