Just thought I'd ask in case anyone knew. My son just got an Xbox360 today (bought it with Christmas money). He was trying to get it set up and there is no sound. He has checked the connections, but nothing. Any ideas? I figure I may have to call the geek squad, I dont have any idea how to hook it up to the broadband anyway. I think I need a wirless adapter for the router. But the sound shouldnt be a problem.....:confused3

I liked it when you could just use an on/off switch.:rotfl:

Someone get me an Easy Button!

There are two sets of cables, one for regular tv and one for HDTV, if you use the wrong set of cables, that may have caused the problem. We have a regular tv and used the HDTV cables, no sound!

if not, then i'm not sure.

The other strong possibility is that it's hooked up right, they just are not getting the setting right on the TV or receiver (whichever one they hooked up to). Make sure you change the input to the one you hooked up to. Also be sure to turn the volume down first. You could have turned it up during all of this, and some things are just louder than others.

Thanks, I will show him these suggestions. :goodvibes

We Ma'am,

I have an 360, and the biggest problem with the sound can be solved by the two previous posts. As for the internet hook up to the 360, the best way to go is by getting the approved hook up for wireless networks sold by Microsoft. But make sure your house is set up on a wireless network or else this advice is moot. Another large bonus for having the 360 set up on a wireless network is that Microsoft allows you to download Windows Media Player package which allows you to sync the media files on your computer to the 360. the best example i can use to illistrate this point is that since my 360 is wireless i can then use all the songs on my computer and play them through the 360 while playing games like FIFA. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Howdy, this info courtesy of my DS!!!!:goodvibes

It was the cable thing, he had them all hooked up, so he just uplugged the non-HD ones. I even got a "thank you Mom!"

So the "approved hook up for wireless networks" Is that specifically for Xbox. I mean an accessory. I have wireless internet with a router, netgear.

You just need to buy the one that Microsoft puts out for 360. If you go to any Video Game Store, the package should read..."Microsoft XBOX 360 USB WIRELESS ADAPTER".:goodvibes

Do not get a third party piece of software.

This once again courtesy of my DS!!! As his mom, I am completely tech challenged!!:rotfl:
