Dear DISers,
I desperately need your help ASAP!! It is a long story, but I have not been in my gym class the past couple of days, and today, my gym teacher gives me this worksheet on things they have been doing in gym class, and it is worth half of grade! And I have no clue what the answers are!!! If you have any info on any of these, you will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

1) Why is it important for players to roll the ball under the net when the opponent has scored?

2) There are many physical skills that a player must possess to play the sport of volleyball. Name three of them.

True or False

3) Teams should rotate when they first receive the ball to serve.
4) When jumping to block or spike a ball, the player must not touch the net.
5) If the ball strikes the line during play it is in bounds.
6) When the ball strikes the ceiling on the opponents side, it is still in play.

7) In an eight player rotation with no one on the bench, how would you rotate? Use arrows to demonstrate.

S= Server X= Player

To everyone that replies, THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

#1 - you role the ball under thenet because it shows sportmanship, helps prevent injuries, and speeds up the pace of the game (easier to control where te ball is between rallies)

#2 - Hand-eye coordination; the ability to change forward momentum into lift when you jump; the ability to perform at high levels in short bursts of energy.

#3 - T unless tey have the first serve in the set.

#4 - T

#5 - T

#6 - F

#7 - there is no such thing as an eight person rotation, you play with six players on the court at a time.

If you teacher has a problem with it have them msg me, I coach voleyball.

You roll the ball because that way everyone understands that the ball is not in play.

1) Why is it important for players to roll the ball under the net when the opponent has scored? Not sure about this...though I did once get a yellow card in a high school match because I sort of spiked it under the net (let's just say I was frustrated with my team...) so based on my experience I'd say sportsmanship. :p

2) There are many physical skills that a player must possess to play the sport of volleyball. Name three of them. hand-eye coordination, agility to move on the court, strength for serving/setting

True or False

3) Teams should rotate when they first receive the ball to serve.
If the team won the serve (i.e. the first serve of the game), then this is FALSE. If the team is receiving first, then they would rotate when they get the ball to serve.

4) When jumping to block or spike a ball, the player must not touch the net. TRUE

5) If the ball strikes the line during play it is in bounds. TRUE

6) When the ball strikes the ceiling on the opponents side, it is still in play. FALSE

7) In an eight player rotation with no one on the bench, how would you rotate? Use arrows to demonstrate.

I have no idea how you'd do an eight person rotation...

LOL.

I can see it now.... "I've been skipping class, so I cheated on my homework by posting these questions on an internet message board. A volleyball coach just happened to see them and answered all of them for me. So I know they are right."

I look at it as "thinking outside the box" ;)

Looks like you have all the right answers already. Good luck on your class! :thumbsup2

Wouldn't number 6 depend on which side the ball comes down on, and which number hit touched the ceiling? Maybe I'm not reading the questions right?

If your team hit the ball and it hit and came down on the opponents side then it would be out of play.

I have also in all my 20 some years of playing VB never heard of an 8 person rotation. :confused3

Thanks!!
LuLu ;)
