First off I just want to thank everyone for putting up with my multiple questions! :worship::hippie::love: Hopefully I can return the favor after our trip. :wizard:
On our AK day the park hours are from 9am-6pm. We are a group of 8 ages 6-86..They don't move fast :sad2: so a pre-park opening ADR will not happen. :headache: I do however think I can get them to an ADR right at park opening. How long will it take to get from the entrance to Tusker House? I was thinking about a 9:30 ADR so I could let them check in and DH or I could run over and get a FP for Safari. If you don't think this would work out time wise what time would you make the ADR for? :confused3 I don't want to rush them...They normally do not like as much planning as this trip is going to require :scared1: so I am trying to have a plan in place that does not seem so much like a plan  Thanks! :thumbsup2

Ok so to be safe a 9:15 ADR would work? I'd like to make it as early as possible with this group...I hate to lose the park time but this was requested by everyone to eat here as soon as we entered the park...

If you have SLOW walkers - esp if they need to stop to take any pictures - the walk from the turnstiles to Tusker House could take you 10 minutes. If you expect to be getting off buses at 9 am - 9:30 would be a good time - as the walk from the buses and going through bag check will also take time, too.

Waiting for check-in - and having someone run over to get FPs for the Safari - great idea.

See this is what I was worried about! This group just does not hurry, I think I will stick with the 9:30 am ADR, Thanks everyone! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

There's another post on here within the past few days about ADR's at opening, specifically at AK. Be there in time for the rope drop and you should be fine.

What is the check in like? We were discussing timing today. Our ADR are at 8:15 am (on a 9 am opening day). When should we get there by 8 am? Or Earlier?

Our goal is to be riding the safari ride by 9:15 am. Possible?

Personally, I would make breakfast a little later if you can't do pre-open...if you have breakfast at 9:30 you'll be sitting at a table, eating during the most pleasant period in the park..the least crowded.
I would get them to opening, tour the park - have breakfast at 10:30....that'll give you time to grab an EE FP, ride the safari and soak up the less crowded atmosphere.

Yes, you'll be able to do Safari by 9:15. I'd arrive at the park at 7:40 myself. You want time to go through bag check, stand in line for the prepark ADR turnstile line, get to the podium and get your photo with Donald and get seated. The earlier you get there, the better your morning will be. Let the waiter know you'd like the check when yo sit down, that way you can leave when you're ready. If you get there early, you can be eating at 8:15...then you'll be done just as the park opens, you're paid up and can walk outside and stroll right onto Safari...we made the first Safari of the day twice doing this.
