My girlfriend went to Disney in November and got things for my kids that I wanted to put in a gift basket to be in the room when we got there. If I arrange the gift basket and ship it to the POR, can the concierge there help me get it in the room if after we check-in if we distract the kids by taking them on a tour of the grounds? Has anyone done this-any suggestions? We were planning on taking the Magical Express with baggage transfer, so if I bring it with me, it could be several hours before our bags arrive-which is why I had planned to ship it ahead.

I doubt it.

FYI, "concierge" is really just guest services. They aren't like a concierge on a club level or in a high end hotel where they will do everything possible to help you. Instead they are basically there to answer questions, sell park tickets, and make dining reservations.

If the hotel is really dead, they *might* be able to retreive your package from bell services and take it to your room, but I doubt they will open it. And due to understaffing lately, I also wouldn't count on them being really slow.

What you might be able to do is for one of you to take the kids on a resort grounds walk while the other gets the basket from the front desk/bell services, takes it out of the box, and places it in the room before catching up with your family.

Good luck!

When I had a package delivered to the resort, they had it waiting for me at the front desk. Maybe if the kids aren't with you when you check-in, you can ask about having a runner bring it to the room for you. Of course, your room would have to be ready for them to do that. It may be all in the timing of when you arrive and the availability of your room. The resorts are normally good about delivering gift baskets and flowers to the room, it just will probably not be at an exact time.

That was what I was trying to say in my earlier post but instead I was as clear as mud. Unless the hotel is really dead, it's probably not going to be possible for them to run it to your room right away. But in under five minutes or so they should be able to retreive it from the luggage/storage room so you can take it to the room. And like Tammi pointed out, unless you are arriving after 5:00 pm, your room might not even be ready yet...

I used Peggy's Sweets to order a gift basket for my dd's birthday. We were at POFQ, and a CM brought it right to the room for us. It wasn't in the room before we arrived, but I think DD got more of a kick out of opening the door and getting a surprise gift. :)

Thanks for the info! We are not arriving at MCO until about 4:00 p.m., so I doubt we would get to the hotel much before 5:00 p.m. anyway. I will check in while DH and DC tour the grounds. I can collect the basket from bell services and put it in the room, then join them. Thanks for the info.

Almost forgot, is there a list of addresses, so I know where to ship the box? Thanks again.

The physical address of your resort is on the back of your confirmation.

great ideas here for gift baskets.we will be at allstarmusic the 1st week of april and i have things bought already for the grandbebies for a basket. i am planning on putting the baskets outside the door and doing a fake knock whiel they are looking at the bedroom { we are in a family suite} and let them answer the door and find the baskets from mickey & minnie. we will also do lil thinsg each night from tink, thank god for the dollar stores! their great-grandparents were in disney in nov. and sent them post cards from mickey & minnie! they htought thse were th ecoolest things,i got pix of htem in their jammies checking the mail and seeing the looks on their faces was awesome....

How do you go about doing that? I want to get a gift basket for my DHs birthday when we are there this year, but I'm lost.

1) This is show it works for delivery AFTER you check-in
. . . gift items are delivered to Front Desk
. . . the items are put behind in the office/service area
. . . a note is attached to the ressie that a package has arrived and waiting
. . . the CM let's the guest know at check-in
. . . the guest may take the item at that time or request delivery
. . . the Front Desk Runner delivers the gift to the room
. . . delivery to the room is based upon the Runner's schedule.
2) Gifts cannot be in the room prior to check-in
. . . sometimes for Club Floor Concierge can do this for Club Floor guests
. . . however, this is not a guarantee
3) There are too many reasons the room assigned to you isn't what you get
. . . it is given away to someone before you check in, because they want it
. . . it is not cleaned and will remain "dirty" throughout the night
. . . there is a maintenance issue
. . . the rugs needed ot be cleaned, and won't dry in time
. . . etc, etc, etc

NOTE: If they are not busy, you can ask the Front Desk CM or the Lobby Concierge if the item can be delivered quickly or between certain hours. However, if they get busy, delivery is at their schedule.

Thank you everyone for your information. The people on this board are so nice and always willing to offer suggestions!
