Need help with how to heat and serve flour tortillas for a group. I only ever make them for 6 people but today I am having 20 eating them :). Do I just heat them up in the pan and put them in a covered dish? I don't have fancy tortilla servers. I also have corn taco shells, what do I do with those? Help :upsidedow! TIA for any advice :flower3:!

I'd wrap them in foil in bundles of six and keep them in a low oven...take them out a package at a time as needed.

You can warm up the flour tortillas in the microwave between damp towels. NOT wet towels but just damp towels. You can do groups of 3 in between damp towels and probably warm up 6-9 at a time by layering between tortillas and damp towels. After they are warmed up wrap up in tin foil and if you want to keep at a warm temp, you can keep them on low/warm in a crockpot or throw in a casserole dish and keep on warm in the oven.

For taco shells, warm up in the oven in a casserole dish and then tin foil the top of the casserole dish and top with a lid if possible. You could also keep those warm in a crock pot if you would like.

You are going to be warming a lot of tortillas!

Are the corn ones taco shells or corn tortillas?

The micro with the damp paper towels is the best way for flour, so they don't dry out.

Do you really need to heat them? When we were home and have tacos I never heat the hard corn shells or the soft flour ones

I think this is a good method!:thumbsup2

I'm half Mexican and on my Mexican side of the family we heat up corn and flour tortillas in a pan on the stove (or sometimes tight on the burner of a gas stove) then put them in a tortilla warmer...either styrofoam or ceramic.

Thank goodness you are heating them...I went to a taco party once where they didn't heat the tortillas...just served them out of the bag from the store and that was not very appetizing to me.

We steam flour soft shells for parties and they come out great. I would just do a taco bar and lay it all out. No need for you to assemble everything.

Thanks for all the advice :)! I think I will heat them up in the pan and wrap in foil and see how that method works.

I've always heated flour tortillas on a pan over the stove and warmed corn tortillas via the oven.

That is how I would normally do it for my family. I ended up just standing the stove and heating them one at a time and handing them out as people built their tacos :).
