We would like to try Rose and Crown for dinner and I have some questions.

First, Illuminations starts at 9:00, what time would you try to get a PS?

To see Illuminations, do you need to sit outside or can you see it from the inside?

And, I noticed the kid's menu ends at age 9, our daughter is 11, and I just don't think she would eat that much from the regular menu. Do you think she would she still be able to order the kid's pizza??

Thanks! and any other tips would be great!

To see illuminations you need to be outside. You can probably have a table inside and then walk outside but if too many people did this those who are seated outside won't be able to see! I would book around 8:00 pm if it was me as it can take 15-20 minutes to get your table.
As far as the child menu goes, we've never had a problem having our kids order off it and they're over the age. Sometimes that's all they feel like and sometimes it's all they like. Sometimes we order 2 kids meals for each child if they're really hungry. I think as long as you're not on a meal plan it's okay to do this.

If you luck out and get a lakeside patio table, you are in for a tremendous treat. The view of Illuminations is amazing. The tough part is getting one of those few choice tables. Picking the correct PS seating time there is like picking the winning lottery numbers. I've seen tables filled with "nesters" by 7pm and I've seen some front row tables open up at 8pm. If you are travelling during the infamous afternoon thunderstorm season, then all bets are off. A majority of the tables are located inside. There are a fair number out on the patio, but quite a few are back under the awning. You can't see any part of the aerial fireworks show from one of those.

We've eaten there quite a few times over the years and it's gone through some changes, even on a day by day basis. You can no longer request a patio table when you make your PS. Basically, everyone who has a PS there after 6:30pm is hoping to score an Illuminations table. If the restaurant is full, that makes it very difficult for them to even allow patrons to wait for something to become available. We were there once when they were telling guests that if they refused the table they were shown to, they would lose their PS all together.

Worst case scenario is if you get a less than desirable table, just before Illuminations starts, they can escort you to a private standing room only viewing area. And if all the planets are in alignment and you get that lower deck, center table, you are in for quite a show.
