As an Australian I am a little confused about your sales tax. Here in Australia we have 10% GST but it must be included in the price by law, so if something has a price ticket of $11 you pay exactly that ( $10 plus 10% tax included).
I know if I buy something in Disneyland I will have to add the tax- how much is it again?

What about things like the Fantasmic priority seating? Does the $59 include tax?

What if we go on a Graysline tour? Does their price include tax?

With taxes and tipping I will be so confused...:confused3

thanks for your help

I'm fairly certain tax in Anaheim (Orange County) is 7.75%.

I'm not sure whether it's been included in the Fantasmic PS price, but my best guess is that it hasn't been.

I know it's confusing--- I just always mentally add 10% (another 15% for a tip if it's a restaurant bill) to make things easier, then am pleasantly surprised when the bill comes in a little less than that.

I checked Grayline's website, but I can't tell if they've rolled tax into the price already. You probably have to call to find out. Their # is 1-800-828-6699. I did notice they've tacked on a $2.00 fuel surcharge. :( Gotta love the price of gas these days...

The price for Fantasmic is tax included, so $59 is the final cost per ticket for adults.

not to add more confusing to the mix but the tax on your hotel may be a differnt rate for some reason "hotel tax" is a differnt rate in many places. heck in oregon we are tax free except for hotel tax:rotfl2:

and an easy way to tip is to take the tax on the bill and double it. so if there is $10 in tax then if you wish to tip at 15% then $20 is a good starting point(it's just over 15% if i did my math correct)

I did what luvmyboys does.

Just add 10% on top, it's an easy amount to work out, and it means you'll always get money back...

With Grayline and those places, I don't think they add tax on top of their prices, but they do give you a total before everything is finalised anyway. They charge you the $2 fuel surcharge at the depo, so it's not added onto your bill when you book the tour.

I just wanted to second the bit on hotel tax... I am guessing Orange County has a hotel tax that is probably a bit higher than the "regular" sales tax. Taxes vary from state to state and even county to county... so it will vary if you travel outside of Orange County (I assume).

In response to an above poster about Oregon being "no tax"... I have lived in Oregon less than a year and have finally gotten used to not having tax added onto my bill! Although I still have not gotten used to having someone else pump my gas :rotfl: !
