So I have never used priceline before, I entered the wrong drop off time. All priceline and hertz are telling me is to wait til I get to the counter to fix it and I will have to pay whatever the rate is.
Has anyone ever done this? What is the best strategy to get the best deal to fix this?

Thanks!

Depends on what size car you need. Be a pain to need a 15 pass van and end up with a Geo. :scared1:

You haven't paid yet, right? I'd just cancel that reservation and make a new one (if you still can). :)

Unfortunately the reason you get a great price is you have to pay right then and there, and in the heat of the moment I paid in full. Priceline will not let you change anything after you pay.

So you're keeping the car longer than you said you'd be keeping it...is that correct? I don't think you'll have a huge issue - you just may have to pay a bit more, unless it's several hours and they deem it another rental day. Sorry...good luck!

I have not used Priceline but I have rented cars more than 100 times. I always made changes to my rental after I already had the car so they are bound by the policy (and rate) that was in force when the contract was written.

You could ask (while at the counter renting) what would happen if I brought it back early/late/to another location? If it is really nasty penalty, rent the car for the period you paid Priceline for, "return" the car on the correct day, and then re-rent the car with a new contract for the same car for the time period you need it for.

I nearly always called the night before i needed to make the change before making the change. I would not worry about it. I extended or shortened rental time all the time without penalty during the rental.

How far off did you mistake it? Most companies have an hourly rate they will just tack on. Many other companies don't even care and give you a few hour grace period. I wouldn't announce you have a priceline reservation when you check in. They will know but just don't tell them that. Then talk to the counter person about dropping the car off at ___(blank) time instead of ___(blank) time and see what they say.
