I know with all the liquid restrictions that TSA will allow you a "reasonable" amount of food, formula and juice to be in your carry on...but what about diaper rash cream, infant tylenol, hand sanitizer and other liquids I might need on the flight. I know some will fit in the "quart" size ziplock because they are under 3 oz but the diaper rash cream is more than that...will they let it on???

TIA :thumbsup2

All of those except the hand sanitizer fall under the "medications" exception. For convenience, you can make a baggie for that, too, though it isn't required; you just have to "declare" the meds to TSA, as in let them know they are there. The hand sanitizer should go in your 3-1-1 baggie.

Also, regardless of that "reasonable quantities" thing, take 24 hours worth of whatever your baby must have in terms of food, liquids and supplies in your carry on. If you get stuck on a runway or in the airport because of weather, all bets on travel time are off. No TSA agent can say for sure that that won't happen, so (very politely) stand your ground.

Thanks so much for the info.

As you may have guessed this is our first flight with our son so I'm kinda clueless :confused3

I will make up a "meds" baggie and put everything else in the 3-1-1.

I think I have the 24 hours worth of food but I might throw in a couple more jars of food just to be sure.

Thanks again!!!!

My pediatrician's office often has sample sized diaper rash cream, lotion and Tylenol -- I grabbed a few and used those on the plane and packed the larger tube. Kiehl's also give out tons of samples of all their products (including diaper rash cream) if there is a store near you.

Have a great trip!!

I 2nd the vote for 24 hrs worth of formula & food and am glad you're taking the advice. No one can guarantee that you won't get stuck on a plane for hours on end, re-routed to another city or stuck in a layover city overnight with no access to formula & baby food.

We basically put everything into baggies - meds in a quart bag, creams, lotions, etc in a quart bag, diapers in a gallon bag, wipes in a quart bag (much easier to access than those taped-shut travel packs that close as soon as you take a wipe out), food & juice in a gallon bag and we even put outfits in bags. It made organizing and getting to things from the bag soooo much easier. We took baby food in plastic containers rather than glass jars. That was just our preferred way to go for the flights though since they weigh less than glass jars.

Good luck! Hope you have a great trip!
