HELP WITH ORBITZ

Hi!

I need help with my Orbitz reservation... I know you can contact Orbitz to add kids to a Disney reservation since they overcharge them, but I chatted with an Orbitz representative this morning, and they told me they called Disney and sent them an email of my request to add one child. But they also told me it can take up to 48 hours to get the confirmation from Disney...does this sound correct? I thought it would be much quicker just to add one child to my reservation :worried:

Have you linked the reservation to your My Disney Experience profile? Normally I link the reservation, call Orbitz to add the kids, and when I log back into MDE (just minutes later), I get an alert that my son has been added. I've never been told it can take a day or two; Orbitz calls WDW and the CM adds the child immediately. I'd call Orbitz back, or start a chat with them and try again.

Yes I have, but I will try and contact Orbitz again! Thank you for your help! Hope it works :D

Just hang up when Orbitz tells you that, and call Orbitz again. (Disney will not help you if you call them directly. YMMV, but Orbitz has to call Disney to make any changes.) I find phoning Orbitz far easier than online messaging or emailing.

When I call Orbitz: I always say that I booked for 2 people, but Disney doesn't charge extra for 2 adults, 2 children under age 18 (or whatever it is), but Orbitz does, so please call Disney while I wait on hold and ask Disney to add my 2 DS (DD) ages ___ and ___, names ____ and ____. Then, the Orbitz person will put you on hold, call Disney (while you wait a long time), then get back to you with the ok.

I book about 3 trips a year this way, never a problem. Its a pain but so far the cost savings are worth it. (Now that the Orbitz promo code is limited to $150 max, might change the calculus vs. other agents' discounts.)

I always link to MDE right when I get the reservation booked (with 2 people) - but noticed recently it takes a day for it to link. Then I go to MDE again after the call and its usually instantly updated to 4 people.

HTH.

I'm definitely going to call them this time, and hopefully I can get everyone added to the reservation ok :cool1:

I added the kids through the online chat feature (rooms were already linked in MDE)-takes 15-20 minutes to do as Orbitz has to call Disney (and every once in a while the CM at disney has no idea how to add-in that case have the Orbitz agent hang up with Disney and try again) It does take a few days for the confirmation email to show up - however the kids showed up right away in MDE. Just a side note-I had to go in and change the name of other adults to assign them to the right ones in MDE.

Also don't forget to change address under "customize magic bands" including phone number. I also had to double check to be sure it was correct when I "confirmed shipping" to be sure address was correct. One resort reservation had reverted back to Orbitz address!

This is not entirely true. I've had Disney add my children twice with Orbitz bookings. The CM will need to contact their resale team, but its much easier than dealing with Orbitz. My first trip I had called Orbitz 3 times and my kids never showed up on the reservation. I finally called Disney and it was done within 5 minutes. Second trip I skipped Orbitz entirely after booking and just called Disney.

I had a similar issue with a different online agency. It took a few calls/online chats until I got to someone who was familiar with Disney and listened when I requested that he call the hotel to add my daughter - once I got to the right person it was easy, but the route to get there was a bit silly.
