Help with ITUNES 10.5 - Video will not play?

Hi!

Just did the new itunes update on my computer today. Now, Im trying to add some videos onto my 1st generation ipod, and i get - movie was not copied to ipod touch because it cannot be played on this ipod...

never got that before !!! HELP!!!!

Older iPods and Touches cannot be upgraded to the latest versions of the software, can't use new releases of many apps & games, etc. I would guess videos are the same. Often when I sync our older items, I get a message that certain things were not copied to the devices because they are not compatible.

Sounds like that is what's happening to you - there's no fix for it. The older devices are no longer supported from a software update standpoint.

Yes, I have defanetly seen when I cant load a new app or something, but this has never happened with a video before??

I don't have any different ideas today (although someone might), but I did just see this a few minutes ago in an iLounge.com article about the iOS5 update coming today (so not about iTunes 10.5). But this doesn't seem new - earlier this year.

Perhaps having learned from last year’s confusion with iOS 4 across various models, Apple has chosen to try and keep the features in iOS 5 as consistent as possible. This has been achieved by dropping support for pre-2009 devices entirely—a change that actually occurred as of iOS 4.3 last spring. The only devices supported by iOS 5 are the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4/4S, iPad and the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch.

When I'm looking for Apple help, I usually just stick with a Google search of my keywords (like iPod Touch video won't load iTunes 10.5) and 9 times out of 10, I find something that either fixes or explain what my issue is.
