Help with I-tunes

I know a lot of you are much more savvy at this so maybe you can help me out.

DS got a IPOD Nano for his birthday in December and lots of Itunes gift cards from family members for birthday and Christmas. He didn't use the gift cards right away--he was pretty overwhelmed by all the options and just stuck with music he owned already for starters.

Tomorrow we leave on a road trip and he wants to download some songs and videos. When we click redeem and enter the gift card numbers we get a message saying our session has timed out and to start over from the begining. We have completely logged off and started over several times (and are working fast so I do not see how we can have timed out) and we always get the same message.

We do live in Germany now. They have Ipods and Ituens Gift cards here as well so I don't think that would matter, but maybe it does?

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

I have had an ipod for years, and i have never heard of something like that happening. Have you tried google for answers? Maybe someone else is having the same problem

Possibly contact Apple about this? It's new to me, I must say.

I'm betting it has something to do with you being in Germany, possibly different copyright laws or something. I know you guys can't watch content on CBS.com, for example. (Friend at Ramstein was desparate to watch Amazing Race. No go.)

Is it safe to assume your itunes account was made from a computer in Germany? I wonder if you have a friend stateside set it up, if you'd be able to log in/enter the codes? (or, if they enter one of the codes- can you log on and use the credit? I wouldn't do all the cards, but try one maybe?)

Good luck! (I do have to chuckle though, we were stationed in Germany pre-internet. Way back in the dark ages, we didn't have Amazon or ebay, etc. The ONLY ways you could buy anything from the states was through Sears, JCPenney or LLBean. No one else would do business with APOs.

Music- you only got what was on AFN, lol.

Make sure you have the newest version of itunes. You can download the latest from the Apple website.
