Will try to make this short but I'm not good at it so bear with me...

We're in the process of closing on a resale contract. As of Friday the title company was waiting for the seller's paperwork, so I figure I won't be able to see any points for another month. Yes, it has been a super long process, but so worth it!!! Anyway, hoping to surprise mom with a long weekend sometime between Oct-Dec. Dad passed in August, it's her 65th b'day and she could really use a break. Anyway, I don't care where we stay, just looking for a studio. Any suggestions on what a good weekend is, it seems like everything is crazy, F & W, Halloween, Jersey Week, Thanksgiving....

Any thoughts????

Also, would you request the time off work for a specific weekend and hope that works out, or would you book the resort and then request the time off work? I'm a teacher so I'm hoping to get two days off and will work everything out with Mom's boss. Would like to get this all settled soon, but I'm stuck because I technically don't have my points yet!!!! Help!!!
TIA

If you don't like crazy and just want to take time to relax with less crowds, book just after Thanksgiving. If she has a favorite park, book a resort close to it. If she doesn't, book BWV or BCV which is close to Epcot and DHS, Epcot is a great park for a 65 year old.

OKW or SSR your best bet for openings. Studio at OKW larger with 2 queens. Both resorts close to down town with bus service.

As soon as the seller's documents arrive at the title company, they could close on the property within 24 - 48 hours. It will take DVC 7 - 14 days to get you into their system as a new member. So, you may be a member and able to make that reservation earlier than a month from now.

Enjoy your DVC membership and your upcoming trip. :cool1:

My favorite time to visit the World is any of the first three weeks in Dec. The crowds are typically lower (well, relatively speaking) and everything is in high gear for the Christmas season. In 2009, we went the day after Christmas and planned to stay through New Years. We ended up leaving 3 days early as the crowds were unbelievable...not my cup of tea. I will NEVER go back between Christmas and New Years.

Unless you have to get the leave request in early, I get the reservation and then ask for the time off.

December would be nice but you might have problems getting a reservation. It's definitely less crowded the week after Thanksgiving yet you still get to see the holiday decor.
