Help with an iPod Touch issue that stumped me

I have a friend (really! ) who just purchased a 16gb iPod Touch. He burned all of his CDs to iTunes and synced them to his iPod. No problem so far.

Last night he goes home and creates a 25-song playlist, and syncs it to his iPod. Today he checks and he only has the 25 songs on there. The rest have been wiped off his iPod.

What can he do to get all of his songs back on his iPod? He said he has it set up on iTunes to sync automatically to his iPod, but in case that doesn't work tonight, I was wondering what he should do.

In iTunes does he have both the library and the new playlist checked or just the new playlist? On the Music tab (I think) where you choose which playlists you want synced to that particular iPod.

On the main screen, have him click "music' just to make sure he is looking at the right thing. He might just be looking at the playlist.
