I've poked around every place I can think of and I cannot find the thread that must exist to answer this question.

How do I use Advanced Mode? It drives me crazy to see so many of you allegedly in a room via "friends", but when I go to the room, I can't see you. And, I guess, you can't see me. (Mal, you were hiding from me yesterday, for example, in the Music Room)

Would someone please point me in the right direction for instructions? Thanks!

I am not very sure what kind of answer you are looking for here...but I will try to answer it as best as possible. The advanced mode allows you to enter any instance of any room. That means you can chose between say, "east east south" or "north south north". That is all the advanced mode does.

I hope this help! :thumbsup2

EDIT: See post below for better explaination! lol

When you go to a public "room", there actually may be more than one instance of that room. Otherwise the rooms would get filled up quickly. So for example, there is more than one instance of "Main Street". Each of these instances has a name, like North or North East.

To find out the name, click on the "i" icon when you are in that room. To use advanced mode, click on the advanced mode check box. When you want to go to a specific instance of a room, then click on the room, and you will be given a list of instances of that room.

Advanced Mode is useful when:
1) You want to find an empty instance of a room because you are doing a quest and don't want people in the way, or you are doing Music mix and don't want to stand in line
2) You need to meet somebody in a public room and you are not friends. You have to go to the same instance of the room (e.g., both go to the "South" instance of the Emporium). You may have thought that somebody was invisible because you were both in a Central Plaza room, but in different instances.

Nevermind my post, this is a better explaination lol. :rotfl:

OK, thanks, that makes sense. I knew some of that.

Does a map exist? For example, how do I know that I want to go to the South instance of the Emporium? Music room is a good example because I get tired of waiting in line, listening to all the "are you taken?" conversations.

25 years of IT experience! You'd think I'd be able to figure this out on my own!

(P.S., note to VMK staff, how 'bout some more instances of staff rooms?!?)

There is no map, per se. You click on the globe, then clicked the advance mode button. Click on the room you want, and you will get a list of instances. Some rooms have more instances than others. For example, Castle Gardens may only have two instances because hardly anybody goes there.

You don't really care if you go to the South vs. North instance usually...only when you want to meet somebody there that you are not friends with. Then you could look and see what instances there are ahead of time, and then pick one and tell them where to meet.
Or you may just want to see how many "mickeys" are associated with each instance, so you can pick an empty (or full) room.
