First of all - I would like to tell all you ladies that you are wonderful DISigners. I would like to become as well. I'm a very creative person and am always looking to do new things, especially when it comes to crafts of all kinds. I just recently got started at scrapbooking.

Do any of you use Adobe Photoshop CS2 to create your DISigns? If so, would you please help me just to get started and maybe answer some of my questions?

If you prefer to email me offline, you may at cindy725@windstream.net.

Thanks,
Cindy:yay:

I'm not to familiar with the program yet. I haven't had a need to use it. How do I get started to create? Any tutorials for your suggestion??

I have PS Elements but I'm fairly certain the basics are similar.

First thing is to create your canvas. Should be a New option on the file menu. Define the size of the image you want and the resolution, I'd say a minimum 100 dpi if not more. In my program you can decide if you want a white background or a transparent one. I usually go with transparent so that if I need to make what I'm working on an overlay later on I don't have to erase the background.

The rest is up to the design you're making. You can add text using the text tool then experiment with all the different effects you can do to the text. There is an almost infinite number of combination of color, style, warping, texture, etc. that can be done. The you can add clip art, background effects like gradients, textures, etc. and borders to complete your design.

There are many tutorials around on the web. Just do a Google search and I'm sure you find plenty. Another way to start may be to try and duplicate a simple design you see on this board. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to post them!

Dom, I have a question for you. I know how to put the pics in the words but can't seem to figure out how to outline my letters. Do you have a tutorial for this or know where to find one? I am using the Type Mak tool so maybe it's not possible with it? TIA-Mel

Outside of PS Elements, MS Publisher and Ulead's GIF Animator 5 (it's the one I use to make these guys

) I do not know how to outline the text. I've used Photo Impact at work and have not been able to figure it out. Have not spent much time on it either. If you are using one of the program I listed I'll be happy to explain it.

Thanks I have PS Elements 6 if you have any words of wisdom on it lol

I have PS Elements 4 but there should be a Stroke command, possibly on the edit menu, that will outline text and/or anything else. If you can't find it try the help function and search for "stroke".
