Help! Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom??

we can't decide!! We have stayed at WL several times. It feels like home but AK is a little less expensive and looks amazing!! Where should we stay. 8 days, and we know we will love either one. Decisions decisions!! Help!

I have stayed at both and personally prefer AKL, which is not to say that there is anything I don't like at WL. At AKL I enjoy the food, the gift shop, and especially sitting outside and watching the animals. Give AKL a try!

So on day 5 you pack your stuff and move to the other? How do you get to the other resort?? Not a bad idea!!!

I say you try AKL. For our family, we have a goal of staying at every resort at least once! We have 7 different ones down and are looking forward to adding more!

We have split stayed at both several times. Great way to do both. Disney moves your stuff. You just get up and go to the park, after you are done, you go to the new hotel. Like having two vacations.

I agree with the PP, with 8 days, I would do the split if you want to stay at both. On your check-out/check-in day, you can simply give your bags to bell services and they'll transfer your bags to your next resort, or jump in a cab/uber and take your bags to your next resort. If you don't want to split, I would vote for AKL so you can try something new. They are both beautiful resorts.

Just make sure if doing a split stay, you account for your dining plan if doing one. All credits from the first half will expire and second half stay credit will start on the same day.

We drive so we just move it ourselves. But you can call bell services and they will come and get it and move it for you. So you don't even miss park time.

I would go AKL, there's just something absolutely amazing about that resort. It's so themed, the animals are a huge added bonus, it's usually the cheapest of the deluxe's, the food court is amazing, TS places are delicious, pools are great! Overall I much prefer it to WL.
-Split stay is also definitely possible, and yes, disney will move your stuff for you!

We just did the same thing!! That's one of the many things I love about WDW - a stay at a different resort gives you a totally different experience. We've stayed WL, Poly and now AKL and each experience felt like it was its own unique adventure. Enjoy the AKL!

I've never stayed at WL. However, every trip we do go there& eat at Artist Point & we think it is gorgeous there. I used to think that WL was my dream want to stay at resort.

However, 4 trips back we were upgraded from CSR. ( which we really like) to AKL savannah view. We were hooked!!

AKL is now our always stay at resort, if we can work it in our budget. It's quiet & at night it's dark . It's so peaceful & so relaxing after being at the parks.

We find ourselves shortening our park time & taking midday breaks just to hang out at the resort. And we never, ever did that.

I'm a huge animal lover & AKL is awesome!

AKL is a fabulous resort. WL is lovely, but the savannah makes AKL the more unique choice. I would not recommend a split stay between these two resorts because the layout is very similar. You won't feel that much of a contrast. If you want to do a split stay, I would do choose a resort that is nothing like the AKL or WL.

I think you will be set either way you go. I had the same debate (we are going with WL - but mostly since it will be my BF's first trip - so we wanted faster access to MK, MK dining options, the monorail, etc.). AKL is now very, very high on my list.

For the split stay, I do agree that these two are absolutely wonderful, but somewhat similar. Splitting with another resort would likely make more sense.
