Help - What's a DSLR?

Im not a photography person, and my parents just bought me this camera cause it had 10 megapixels.

I thought this board could be of assistance.

I'm going to the MMVA's tomorrow (Much music video awards) in Canada and the items not allowed includes DSLR's, but it allows handheld digital cameras. I would really like to take pictures of lady gaga and the jobros, but i dont know what my camera is..? And i dont understand the difference between a regular camera and mine. I can't just go and buy another camera for these awards,

a dslr has interchangable lenses and the view is actually through the lens( ie the eyepiece view looks through the actual lens)
your's would be a bridge camera so a point and shoot but the only problem i might forsee is a guard might not know the difference. it looks dslr like...so you would be legal but can you keep it out of sight till you get inside?

Oh so its not a dslr!!!! YES. And no, we are being checked. Im goign to say I went tp a camera store and asked though. I have alot of MMVA stuff that I made like hats and shoes, so I don't think they'll refuse me entrance.
