Take a look at the passing feet someday in a public place and you will understand why there is no one "best" for everyone. Feet are all different.
I bought my first pair of Teva's years ago (at least a decade). I hated them as the texture on the insole just killed my tender feet. I gave them to my sister who had the same problem. Because of this board I finally tried them again but have some with a very, very soft insole that is sort of like suede. They are very comfy, but I do have to keep the straps very, very loose to prevent blisters.
Go find the
Crocs thread. They make a sandal and people are swearing by them.
I am a big Birkenstock fan - after years of thinking that I could not wear them because I have a narrow foot. I learned that they do not need to fit snug to prevent blisters from the rubbing.
But my favorite water shoe right now that is also very comfortable for walking a lot is one that I got at Payless for about $8 (on sale). It gives a lot of support and does not rub or cause blisters.
I used to think that Mephisto sandals were the greatest - they are very, very comfortable but also very expensive. But I couldn't walk in them for long distances without getting blisters.
I've found lots of sandals (Clarks, Ecco, Mephisto) that are very comfortable for wearing casually, but that do not work for me when walking long distances. They are probably great for others with a different type of foot.
