Hi everyone  I will be a Disney bride in the summer of 2007, but first things first. My younger sister is getting married in April of 2006, and I am her maid of honor. My sisters and I are all fairly close in age, so her wedding will be a first for our very small family, and I haven't been in any other weddings in my life. I'm not exactly sure what my duties are as the maid of honor except for planning her bridal shower. However, my mom and my other sister (who lives at home still) would like to mostly plan the shower, since they live in the area where most of the attendees live. So what else am I supposed to do?? Thanks :rotfl:

visit www.theknot.com, they have a section for the wedding party with a lot of helpful articles on ediquette and duties. Also, if you are a future bride it has a lot of good resources! I think you will find the site very helpful.

i agree check out theknot.com and other bridal websites to see their list of duties. Mostly you are there to help her handle anything see needs help with...her "right-hand gal" if you will. Even though you are farther away from her you still can offer assistance in mailing things or shopping for items. You could possibly handle planning the bachlorette party or bridesmaid outing if there will be one. My MOH is helping me put welcome bags together and stuffing invitations.

Hope this helps you! Remember to have fun and enjoy it all!

i was moh for my moh first, she was married october 1st. these are some of the duties/things i did/handled i always lent an ear & was there for advise, also calmed her the day off. went dress shopping with her & bought my moh dress, there was no other bridal party but otherwise the moh normally organizes & delegates tasks to them with the bride. bms also help with the shower & bachelorette party. i threw a small shower for her & made favors for the shower guests. while we were at her destination wedding in vegas helped get everyone together for a jack & jill night out bachelor/ette party. i helped her make a wedding website. i helped her get ready/dressed in the morning, coordinated where ever needed to be & when the limos were coming, carried her 911 bag with makeup, camera, shout pen, deoderent, etc. signed the marriage license at the chapel, i held her bouquet & the grooms ring during the ceremony, gave a speech at the reception.
