We are staying at a rental home in the neighboorhood west of Disneyland, the walking directions take us down "Magic Way" but don't say anything after that...I noticed on google maps streets view there was some kind of train/shuttle looking thing at the end of Magic Way, would we have to take this to get to Disneyland main entrance? There is only one entrance right? This will be our 1st Disney trip so I am totally clueless :confused3 (although really loving these forums for all the useful info) I am just trying to decide how much time I need to plan for getting there in the morning...thanks for your help!

I'm not too familiar with what things look like from that direction, but you'll be in the area of the parking garage. What you'll most likely want to do there is catch a parking lot tram and take it to the gate from there.

Once you get on to almost the end of Magic Way you could go left to the north to the Trams. There is a cut through the bushes. The trams go into DTD and drop off about 100 yards from the gates.

Or go strait and across Disneyland Dr. Follow the sidewalk to the right and it will take you into DTD.

This might sound like simply a, why walk when you can take the tram? If you wait for the next tram it's often faster to walk. And that's commonly the case at night. So if you think your feet can take it, go to the tram but walk all the way down through the loading area and it will bring you back to that path to save time.

Thanks Skiingfast and Vexorg...that helps! So is the little train thing the "tram"...I was going to post a picture of it but I don't have 10 posts yet so it won't let me...I read some posts from HydroGuy that talked about how long it takes to get from parking to the main gates, and it kind of made me worried that we are going to have a long morning ahead of us...I want to make sure and get there right when the park opens.

Leave early. The tram route is about a half-mile if you walk it. My best advice for riding the tram comes from being a DTD cast member who had to park in the brown lot (on the other side of Mickey and Friends). Split your group up for one. Each seat accommodates 5 people. Scan the yellow line up and down to see rows with 4 people (very common). Just jump in and be the fifth person. It's a lot harder now than it used to be before the trams had little doors, but it can still be done. If you have a stroller, fold it and board on any tram in any seat. Still, look up and down that aisle and split up as a group to pick up those one or two empty seats. I assure you, that's how the East side DTD cast members do it :rolleyes1.

We almost always walk instead of taking the tram, especially if we have the stroller. It's not that far of a walk and like SKi said, it can often be faster than waiting for a tram.

You can walk down Magic Way then cut northeast across the parking lot over to the Tram thats on the east side of the parking lot. Thats the shortest walking. The tram will take you to the east end of downtown Disney where its a short walk from there to Disneyland or California Adventure gates.

An Alternative is to walk to the Monorail stop at the west end of Downtown Disney. You must have valid admission passes to use this as the Monorail is considered a park enterance gate.

If you walk I see two choices. Either walk through Downtown Disney from the east end, or take the path from the Tram area to Downtown Disney.

Thank you, Thank you, a million times thank you! I have been so stressed out trying to plan everything perfect, and I was so confused by the google maps because the walking path doesn't really look that clear! Thank you for taking time to help me out!!!:lovestruc I am truly in love with these disboards and all you wonderful Disney goers out there!
