This evening we had to rush our little girl Bailey to the Vet Emergency Center. She is suffering from congestive heart failure. The doctor says she can recover from this if they can get the fluid out of her lungs tonight.

She is loved so much by our family. She loved going to Ft. Wilderness, riding in the basket of our scooter all around the Fort. She even participated in the pet costume contest this year as a pumpkin. Here's a photo of her and her sister and brother on the steps of the motor coach. We just love that white stripe on her forehead.

Please help us pray for our little girl tonight. Thanks all and God bless.

Done. You have my prayers for a great outcome and prayers she will live to see FW many more times.

Saying a prayer for your fur kid also we have 2 seniors one who is turning 15 in feb the other will be 14 so they have been to the fort many times also and hopefully a few more they aren't as active as they once were but still love the fort they seem to do a little better guess they like vacations also best of luck and we will be hoping for a full and speedy recovery wishing your little angel much pixie dust

OP here. So sad to say that our little baby lost her fight late last night. It was a very painful thing to go through. Feeling so helpless and seeing her that way. She was such a great, sweet, expressive little girl. Communicating with everyone was a trait she had down pat.

DH said last night that she is now with her "Boy" (DS we lost to cancer a couple years ago. They sure did adore one another). In all our years as dog owners and dog lovers, we have never come across such a special little one as her. She was involved, and I mean involved in everything we did. Loved to go run errands, did all yard work with us, ride scooters with us, went to work often with me (clients loved her too). She loved going on vacation to WDW most of all. She would ride on the huge dashboard of the coach, on her way to Fort Wilderness. She loved staying in the motor home. She preferred the 500 loop so as so watch the dog park from the windows...and make frequent trips over there to socialize too.

We sure are going to miss that little girl. Here she is yesterday, while she was still in alright shape. Thanks for your prayers, PMs and well wishes. You are good people my DISboard friends.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your furry baby. My heart is breaking for you. I know that your DS is happy to have her with him again. :grouphug:

Oh my goodness! I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. :sad1:

Your baby is now resting in the arms of an angel!

I had to put my doggie to sleep a couple weeks ago. It was hard to let go of her, but she was hurting so much that it was worse to see her like that.
I held her the entire time, and I'm ok for the most part about it all. But when I unlock the door, I'm always hoping that she'll be standing on the other side waiting for me.

It's amazing how well dogs adapt to us, to become so perfect for our lives. She had her good and bad moments, but it never seems like another dog will be just as great as she was. And 5-6years is an awful short time. (She reached about 8 or 9 years old, which is still on the older side for dogs).

I did a private cremation for her, just so when I find the right place, I can bury her. If I had a yard to do it in, I would've done it myself. I even got one of the create your own stepping stones, and I did a paw print just before taking her into the vet. So that will sit on top of her grave.

I wish she was here right now, my toes would be toasty warm. And I'd probably be one hand typing as she would stare at me until I started petting her again.

Sandra - Not to be maudlin, but my DH & I purchased a granite memorial bench at our local cemetery just so our kitties can be with us forever. The plan is (that is ... if we out-live them) that when they pass on we will have them cremated and keep their ashes until the death of either me or my DH. We plan on cremation, so whoever goes in the bench first, the kitties go with them.

We scattered the ashes of our first four fur-babies in the yard of our last home. That won't happen again.

It breaks my heart when someone loses their beloved fur-baby. :sad1:

I am so very sad'n by your loss. She sounds like a wonderful little girl that anyone would have been pleased to have met. She has the most darling little face and those eyes are absolutely beautiful.
I'm sure she must have gave you much joy and love.

Thank you. She made us laugh and smile everyday. She loved to go and do everything everyday...didn't matter what we were doing, she wanted to tag along and participate.

She and I drove past your site in the 500 loop in Oct/Nov when we were there. I was riding the electric scooter and my little girl was in the basket on the handlebars. She loved riding in the scooter at the Fort. We sent you a PM wondering if your campsite sign was the same person with your avatar here. We were both in the 500 loop at the same time. Makes me smile to think of the Fort, especially with my little girl.

I shed tears reading of your loss. We all feel your pain and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Their time with us is short, but we are blessed because of them.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water, and warm Spring weather.

Oh my gosh, I don't know how I missed this earlier. :sad2: I'm so very sorry to hear about poor Bailey. She certainly looked like quite a sweetie. My heart just breaks for you. We've recently had a close call with one of pets too. You just don't realize how much a part of your family they become. Please accept my condolences. Bailey sure was a lucky pup to have such a loving family to be a part of.

I feel you loss since thus far we have had to have three of our babies of the four legged variety put down and it is the most gut wrenching process, but each time we have been there to the end hold and stroking, cuddling them till they are gone after the vet has done his/her thing. I will never understand an owner who just leaves their loved one alone to face that final fate alone. We as pet owners brought them into our world when be got them and have an absolute duty IMO to see them thru to the end. We now have another two sisters age 7 human years that we will have to a some point go thru this again.

I have lost both parents and a aunt/uncle who were like parents and DW has lost both of her parents and while I'm not trying to compare the hurt, the loss of a pet that you have had for 15 years or more and nutured and cared for it like it was your flesh and blood it is just about a traumatic as losing a parent at least short term and even worse when you have to make the decision to end that life. That probability did not come out sounding right, but pet owners will know what I'm trying to say.
