Help us pick which day to skip in June

We are heading down from June 16-23. We will probably be doing beach days and visiting friends the first couple days (especially Sunday-it’s Father’s Day and my husband is not the Disney freak I am, plus he went to college and life guarded nearby so I’m sure he’d prefer to be on the beach). On Monday the 18th, we move to the Grand Californian, staying for the first time at this hotel, and on our DVC points! We have a two bedroom-we may have other folks joining our family of five for part of the week, so trying to figure out park schedule.

Assuming most of us will have five day tickets, which day of the six days between Monday the 18th and Saturday the 23rd would you skip? I would lean towards Saturday, as we’d have to leave around 2 to catch our flight at SNA, but it looks like Monday might be insane as it’s last day before most passes are blocked?

If that's indeed the case with Mon I'd skip Mon. You can do early entry Sat to get a lot of stuff done before leaving. Luggage can be stored with bell services FYI.

Hey we will be neighbors! We rented DVC points to stay at GCV June 19-23! And I have really solid advice for you that usually is not possible with summer visits but does apply the week you chose.

The issue you may or may not be aware of us is the SoCal AP (SCAP) blockouts - read more here if you want: "Understanding AP Blockouts and Impact on Crowds" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2365983

I usually do not get to choose exact days in summer as other events and issues usually drive our dates - but this year I chose these dates as the best in not only June but all of summer. See the charts below, the green days are open to SCAP holders and grey are blocked out. The days you want to visit the parks for sure are June 20-23. June 23 is actually a blockout also for the Deluxe AP (we have DAPs) so we cannot go June 23 - we will be flying out that day. We will go June 19 but are planning more shows that day as it will be more crowded.

One of the young ladies who works for me happened to go to DLR the equivalent week last year 2017. She had two day passes and had no idea of the impacts of SCAPs. She visited on the equivalent of Tuesday June 19 and Friday June 22. She said Tuesday was crazy crowded and Friday was much less crowded.

So for you I would suggest you go Monday the 18th, rest on Tuesday the 19th, and then do Wed-Sat June 20-23. On Monday focus more on things less impacted by crowds such as some of the shows like WOC and/or Fantasmic and/or Paint the Night. If you want to see the Frozen stage show (pretty good BTW) then Monday would be a good day for that.

You may know that you will have 7AM EMH every day you are there. I would try and get to bed early Sunday night and Tuesday night and do EMH both days (Monday and Wednesday) at DCA. Other days do EMH if you want. We find we are usually too tired to do that LOL. We are lucky to make EMH on half our days when EMH is at 7AM.

Charts below are from the DLR AP area here: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes/blockout-dates/
Green days are open to SCAPs and grey days are blocked out.

Thank you so much! I’ve looked at the calendars but having it all laid out this way with added experience really helps. So, your guess is Monday and Tuesday will both be busy but since Tuesday busier since it’s almost the last day?

Sounds like Monday might be a good night to do one of the packages for the evening shows.

Yes, with Tuesday maybe being a hair busier as it is the final day before the blockout. But I would not use that as a reason to choose Monday. I would go with Monday so you can get a rest day in there somewhere.

Yep, that makes the most sense IMO.

We will likely do the same on Tuesday evening since we do not have Monday as an option like you do. My guess is we will do either the WOC Dessert Party Tuesday or focus on seeing the Paint the Night parade. We will have our 3.5 year old granddaughter with us on her first trip to a Disney park so our schedule will largely revolve around her and her inability to stay out late most nights.
