Help us get picked for Jedi Training!

Does Disneyland do this differently from Hollywood Studios in Orlando? At Hollywood Studios, you sign up for a time early in the morning (as soon as you arrive or the spots are all gone). There is no picking kids out of a crowd.

Yep, they do it different. At DHS, you sign up and at DL they pick from the crowd. We got there early so the kids were in front. DS was wearing a Lego Star Wars T-Shirt. We did the first time available on our trip so that if DS didn't get picked we could try again since I knew he would be disappointed. We didn't have any signs and there weren't any signs the morning we were there. DD and DS held hands and jumped up and down. They were picked in the first 10 kids or so.

We got picked our first time out thankfully. We arrived half an hour early and I was amazed at how full it was.We barely had room to fit my son on the line, but i tucked him in there, and stood behind him, to keep him from getting pushed back..(there were a lot of people trying to squeeze kids in to the front) I had read lots of great tips on this board, so had him wearing a bright neon green shirt, holding a sign we had made that had yoda on it, and jumping up and down waving wildly with a huge smile on his face..he was the 4th or 5th kid picked.... be aware that you kind of need to hide your sign when you go through the security checkpoints, I have heard they sometimes will take them....

We need to get moving on making our stuff!! I've been trying to find funny Star Wars quotes - any ideas?!

You could go with a direct quote like, "The force is strong with this one," or an altered quote like, "I will bring balance to the force."

Or, you could use some Yoda language like, "Choose me, you will," or write please pick me in Wookie language, "akanworacwo akahoaor scwo!"

Or, you could throw out down gauntlet with, "I eat Sith for breakfast."

My son got picked on his first try with no sign--just a big smile, a lot of hyperactivity, and a shirt with Jedi Mickey on it.

Our daughter was picked wearing a bright pink shirt. She was very enthusiastic. I figured she wouldn't be picked as they already picked some kids from our section and were looking at the other side. She just kept waving her arm, and they picked her.

My 7 and 8 year olds got picked first time with signs. The older boy's read "I am the chosen one", while the younger girl had a sign that said "No, I AM the chosen one".

Worked a treat!

My DD was picked in the first few with a R2D2 Mickey ears on, with a sign that I stapled a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet with a pic of darth vader and the words "I'm not afraid of darth vader. Pick me please." bright pink shirt.

From the audience they choose left to right, then back across the line to fill in. First two kids picked were in Jedi robes with light sabers. Only two kids had signs, my DD being one, and they were both picked.

Went to the 2:25 show, it was the first of the afternoon, and we showed up at 2:00. I thing the later shows are busier as families with kids that didn't get picked we're talking about sticking around for the "next show".

So fun! And they do pick 20-25 kids, so there is a lot of opportunity.

Also, my husband went and stood up above in the tomorrowland terrace eating area to get clear video shot. Otherwise there would have been people in front of him.

Good luck!

Is this show still going and is it only for little kids?

I have a friend who I am going to Disneyland with who is a HUGE starwars fan. She would have no shame getting up there and joining in.

Go to e-bay and buy Jedi costumes for your kiddos. I did that for my 6 and 4 year old and they were the first to get picked right off the bat.

I am really stressing over the outfits we chose! We have chosen a princess costume, pirate, and who knows what the 8 year old's costume will be, but I really think they should wear matching outfits. We have the signs, and causing a scene is not a problem for my kids. So I am hoping that having costumes instead of matching outfits will work.

We were just there last week. My daughter got there early - just over 30 mins prior to the first show. She sat in front, right next to the center aisle, which must be kept clear.

She had a hastily written sign on a regular piece of 8.5x11 piece of paper written with a turquoise sharpie that read "The force is strong in this one Pick me" She was wearing an unremarkable outfit (it was a white top with some pink and black leggings.) She held the sign up while jumping up and down.

She was the first one chosen at her show. From my vantage point in the terrace (DD2 didn't want to go anywhere near the stage), I believe it was her position (right up front and center) and her sign that got her picked. And she was placed at the highest platform on the stage.

There was another boy behind her that had a sign. It said something about "Hi Midi-something Count" sorry - not a SW fanatic, so I can't remember exactly what it said. He was almost not chosen. The Jedi picked from the left, then the right and picked a few more kids from the left. He was one of the last ones chosen. While it didn't get him noticed during the initial go-around, I think it helped him get pick at the end.

There was a young girl in a Rapunzel dress that was picked - no sign.

Hope this helps! DD1 had a blast on stage.
