We've added a day to our December trip :cool1: and need to make one more ADR for a table service meal The cast is DH, DS7 and me. We all have different ideas about where we should go so we're looking for advice from the pros!!

The contenders are:
1) Boma - never been to AKL and don't have an ADR planned for the day we're visiting AK.

2) Yacht Galley - DH suggested this, said we could spend some time looking at all the holiday decorations Beach & Yacht Clubs/Boardwalk area, etc. and still get a good meal. Don't know much about the food, though:confused3... (Note: We won't have much time to look around when we go to Cape May)

3) Character meal at GF - chance to see the decorations and catch either a breakfast or lunch character meal

Our other ADRs include: Whispering Canyon, Le Cellier, Ohana and Cape May

The floor's open for recommendations!!!

I would suggest Boma. I thought the food was very good and it will give you a chance to see the AKL.

Our favorite "must do's" are Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Crystal Palace
and Garden Grill!!:goodvibes

You'll love Boma!

Boma! AKL is an absolutely must-see, and Boma's food is fantastic.

Couldn't agree more...easy choice for both the food and the overall beauty of the resort. If you have not been to AKL, don't pass up the opportunity to do so; you're missing out on something special!

We LOVED Boma!! We walked around and looked at the animals while waiting for our table. AKL is very beautiful! We are going back this trip.

OK, all you Boma fans. You've convinced us. Now, which is better: Breakfast or Dinner?

We're spending the day at AK, which has EMH in the evening that day so closing time would be 8 p.m. We plan on eating at Flame Tree some time (either late lunch or dinner, depending on what we decide to do about Boma)...

Besides the value on the DDP, are there a lot of holiday decorations, special activities, that'd make dinner a better choice than breakfast?

I think Boma is a great choice also! If anyone desires unafrican food, there is plenty to choose from, including hand carved prime rib if you have some red meat lovers in the group...and various other offerings.

I've had both breakfast and dinner...and dinner is the winner, hands down...because of the food. Breakfast (while it is interesting and absolutely delicious) doesn't have all the choices dinner has. At Christmastime I'd get to AK at rope drop (or at least by 9 am) have an early "brunch" (10:30 or 11) at Flametree and have a relatively early dinner at Boma, possibly arriving a half hour before dark to explore outside as well as inside, have dinner as darkness falls (APR around 5 or 5:30)...then return to AK park to experience it lit up for the last hour, hour and a half or two...

Alternatively, you could have a later lunch and stay at the park until 6:30/7 pm or so...then go over to AKL for a late buffet at Boma and not return to the park.

At Christmastime often in the evening there will be a storyteller at AKL by the fire (sometimes inside, sometimes outside). Be sure to bring jackets for your trip back to AK park after dark.

I would have a really hard time deciding between breakfast and dinner... that's why I always have to do both!!! I do think they have the absolute best breakfast foods in the world... and of course there's the Frunch! The pressed pot of Kenyan coffee is to die for. Dinner is really good too, there are so many options, usually about 5 different soups, tons of desserts, salads, carving stations, FuFu potatoes (personal favorite!), etc.

I find the setting much more relaxing and quiet at breakfast, it is busier at dinner. You can go out to the Savannah viewing areas either time, but if you go out after dinner you can probably take advantage of the animal night viewing, which is pretty cool.

I am also a Boma fan.:thumbsup2 Breakfast and dinner are equally good. We will do both when we stay at AKV in Oct. The reason I would recommend it over the other options you listed is that it is just so unique compared to everything else, and it is conveniently located to AK, which is the park you plan on spending that day. Give it a try; I don't think you will be disappointed!

Sweet!

We didn't have any ADRs made the day we'd be doing the AK park so I just called and made a BOMA ADR.. sounds like a great way to end a day.
How do you get from AK to the AKL? Do you take a bus?

I think that sounds like a great plan. We hadn't really thought of leaving for dinner and going back to the park for EMH. That'd probably make it easier for us to get back to Pop after the park closes, too. Thanks for the suggestion! Now, keep your fingers crossed that I can still get an ADR!!

Yes, from what I can tell, buses are the way to get there from AK.

I would suggest Boma. Get there early and explore the lodge. It is a beautiful resort. Take the time to see the animals outside.

Of the 3 you mentioned, I would go for Boma.
