We have a deposit on a category 4E 299 SQF larger room with extended veranda - on deck 4 a little forward of the forward elevators. Advantages: larger room, extended veranda. We also have a 5A, deck 10 10532 - right at the forward elevator - only 245 SQF.

Cabins are same price.

We have cruised in the deck 10 in same area before. Should we try the 4E extended although lower?

Need a decision today......

Thoughts welcome...

We love the 4Es because my favorite thing to do is just rest and relax on my veranda. I try to take a nap out there on every sea day. I prefer it over the pool deck because it's usually very quiet and I don't worry about someone "accidentally" walking off with my stuff if I fall asleep.

We have stayed in 5 A's for the past 5 cruises and enjoy them. We are all the way forward and prefer, 10500, 10504 and 10506...haven't stayed in 10502 yet though. We like the overhang on the verandah and the quiet of being below Rainforest and use our verandah a lot! :)

We are a family of 4 and have never found the 246 sq foot cabin a problem. The larger cabins have the murphy bed, which is nice, but when the murphy bed is down it is right in front of the verandah door...which would keep me from going to sit out there if I had to climb over a bed to do so. :)

An extended verandah on the lower deck is okay...our first cabin ever was on Deck 6 and we were always thinking that extra space on the verandah would be nice. But we really enjoy being higher up and being just a set of stairs away from Deck 11.
Tough call! :) But I would choose Deck 10 forward.

I have not stayed in a 4e on the Dream/Fantasy, but find the lack of privacy on the verandah a deal breaker for me and my family. We prefer the shade one obtains with a 5e stateroom, so we would choose the 5a room in your scenario.

The 4e Vermadahl are partially shaded righ ? If you sit by the windows you have at least as much shade as canons above? Thanks all for replies. Finally how are the semi loungers?

Yes.
But not as much as deck 10.

For those that replied - thanks. We took the 4E - and we can still change. We do have questions for anyone who has stayed there - there are two other alleged "knocks" against rooms in that area.

First is supposedly noise from the theatre balcony. There are some reports of noise during show hours or cleanup. Second possible ding is supposed noise from thrusters while docking. Note that when we sailed Disney the first time, we are on deck 2 near the thrusters and the vibration from the thrusters was loud and excruciating. Can anyone comment on noise from the thrusters? It would seem like for deck 5 of dream, this noise is negligible.

Make us happy about our decision (or are we splitting hairs here?)

They are semi shaded closest to the doorway. Though sun position matters.

As for the loungers you can see them in these photos of mine. The 4635 image shows one in a more reclined state. In 4661 you can see the full loungers towards the left of the image behind the chair loungers. These were taken in category 5e rooms and are not guaranteed for any sailing, subject to availability, blah blah, disclaimer disclaimer. You will not be able to lay flat in the chairs, but not a bad compromise.

We just came off of the Dream yesterday and stayed in a 4E on Deck 5 (5530) -- absolutely loved it!!! I LOVED the extended veranda as it got shade by the door (closer in toward the boat) but I could walk out onto the extended part and lay in the sun, if I wanted. I did hear noise from the theater once during a show but it was around dinner time so it didn't bother us at all. I don't recall hearing any noise from thrusters at all. My husband is a light sleeper and we both slept really well oboard.
