DS's swimming club is in a dire financial situation following the sudden closure of 2 of our pools that the swim school that the club runs uses, the swimming lessons really are what keeps the club in the black financially speaking and things are so desperate at the moment that the club has barely £100 to its name, and it would be a terrible shame should it close.

We are drastically thinking of fundraising ideas ~ that are a little different to the norm to spark the imagination of the locals. Any ideas would be so much appreciated by the children as we start our 'SAVE OUR CLUB' campaign

I am still on ptfa of dd's primary school even thought they left years ago. Our best money spinners are quiz night (we were very lucky to have a very inventive quiz mistress) and a caribbean night where we served jerk chicken, rice and peas, dumplings, patties etc. all provided by a takeaway owned by a parent and most importantly rum punch. We decorated the hall and everyone came dressed accordingly. In fact it was our most successful function ever.

Good luck with fund raising. I know how difficult it can be

Just a suggestion - could you get in contact with a swimming celeb? thinking Sharron Davies, Duncan Goodhew or even David Walliams, a bit of celeb profile might work, other than that I can only think of the same old, same old stuff, auction of promises, raffles, quiz nights, bingos, sponsored swims etc

Lottery funding, sport england (it's called something like that!), or go to your local district council office and ask for the charities book - it lists loads of charities to apply to for various things, most are specialist based on religion, art, music, sport, etc.

This won't be instant funding but something to look at long term.

Good luck,

Lynn

how about a sponsored swim
DS is doing a jog and just going around family and neighbours he has raised nearly €50 himself

we done a sponsored silent once at the youth club
they had to keep quite for an hour , it was great fun

and believe it or not they all kept quite

Good luck

I hope you can get the money you need for your club. I think you could try having something like a swim meet; maybe sponser someone to break a swimming record of some variety.

Sorry I am not seeming productive; but that's all I got.. Hope it helps.. :goodvibes

It is hard to think of something original nowdays but we have found that "theme nights" always seem to be a good money spinner - we hired a hall once and did a vegas night. We have also done a Luau and a Mad hatter tea party!"

My company holds balloon races for charities, we have raised hundreds this year for good causes, so if you are interested I PM me and I can explain how you do it etc - it's a bit far for us to come to help but you are welcome to give it a try!! :thumbsup2 Good luck
