OK, I want to switch to Beach Club - today is my 7 month window...the first night is the only one not available right now...
Should I continue to call through =out the day in the hopes that someone who has their home at BCV will switch to another resort?
Has anyone had luck doing this? How often should I call?
TIA

I would probably waitlist for the day, but call as often as it's comfortable. I hope you get something. Have you tried a 1 bedroom, they are often the first to free up.

I would've just waitlisted and then call back tomorrow and see if the remainder is available. If the rest of the days are available tomorrow, I would book it and then waitlist for the first day only. Of course that means you may have to move after the first day. I'm certainly surprised to see that it's available for most of your trip. Good luck! It's that dang Federal Holiday weekend causing havoc for you.

Thank you Bobbi
A one bedroom is actually what I'm looking for! I asked about wait listing - but he said if I do tht, I can't reserve the other nights, because the 7 month window doesn't open until tomorrow - so if the 1 bedroom comes through, but then the other days are not available at that timre, I'll be stuck with the BCV for only 1 night and then have to move to Kidani (Which I love, but we want to be near F&W).
Any suggestions?
He seemed to think that a 1 bdrm wouldn't open up today - but wouldn't today be the best shot? Since it's the & mnth window for the BCV people too?

If I waitlist and it comes through - how do I find out so that I can get the rest of the week before the 7 mnth opens for everyone else tomorrow?

Do you mean if the waitlist comes through today? That might be pretty unlikely. But they do send an e-mail now. Last week, my waitlist came through - I just happened to check on the same day it came through, then within 5-6 hours I got an e-mail that was my updated confirmation.

OK...thanks Vicki and everyone...
I did call back and waitlist the 8th. I will call in the morning at 9 am and should be able to switch to BCV for the 9th to the 16th.
I'm glad they send an e-mail now! I'd hate to have to wait for snail mail to find out!
As long as the ret of the week is still available in the morning (and why wouldn't it be at this point...right?) I feel confident that the 8th will open at some point! Worst case scenario is we live out of the suitcase for the first night - enjoy the awesome Kidani pool and then move to BCV.

I would call back and do a waitlist. I'm pretty certain what the CM told you is incorrect and you should be able to waitlist the entire stay and not have to risk getting only one day. Then I would call back tomorrow and see if the remainder of the trip is available. If so I would book it and change the waitlist to just the first night as long as you are willing to move if it doesn't fill. If you are not willing to risk that then just keep the waitlist for the entire time and cross your fingers. :goodvibes

I think if the first day is not available, you can only waitlist that day. Basically, you have to do a day by day waitlist, if going forward there's not availability on the new "first day." I don't mean that you have day waitlisted separately, I mean you are adding a day to the waitlist each day.

I'm not 100% on this but I think last year when I tried to book BLT standard at 11 months the first day was not available and I was able to waitlist for the entire stay. 2 or 3 days later I decided to just book MK view so I dropped the waitlist but I know I didn't only waitlist for one day and did not call back to waitlist a second day. I would think that requesting a waitlist would not be any different than booking the room and 7 months shouldn't be different than 11 months. ie - if you can call to book the room for a period then you are able to waitlist for that exact same time frame if the room itself isn't available. Part of the purpose of the new booking system was to eliminate calls. Only being able to waitlist for 1 day is the opposite of that.

You can actually waitlist the entire stay...up to 1 week past the 7 mnth window...So I could have waitlisted the 8th to the 15th - but if I did that, when I called tomorrow an found that the 9 to the 16th was available, I'd have to cancel the first waitlist and create one for just the 8th - that would put me farther down the list I think...
Also, we are only allowed 2 wait lists per year..so, if I did the whole week, then switched it to just the one night...that would be times..if I needed to waitlist another night (say the 15th) -I'd be out of luck.
So, I just waitlisted the 8th and will cross my fingers that the rest of the week is still available tomorrow.
If it's not, I will cancel the 1 night waitlist, created a waitlist for the entire 8 night stay (which will all be within the 7 mnth window as of tomorrow morning) and just have it be all or nothing. Kidani is a great resort...I just really wanted to be able to stroll into Epcot for F&W!

I believe that is 2 waitlist a reservation, not a year. If it is, then that would be new to me.

It's actually 2 active waitlists at any time so you could end up having 20 or more waitlists during a year if you chose as long as it's only 2 at one time. (And this I'm 100% certain of! ;))

I wouldn't worry about dropping too far down if you were able to get the remainder of your days tomorrow and then needed to change your waitlist for the one night. And if the first night opens up and other nights are available then you might get everything today!

It could have changed since you last checked...or it is certainly possible that the owners website is incorrect, but the following is copied directly from the waitlist policy on the DVC member site:

What you need to know about the wait list for Disney Vacation Club Resorts:

* During the Home Resort Priority, you can only wait list at your Home Resort.
* You can have up to two active wait list requests per Membership per Use Year.
* Wait list requests for consecutive nights cannot be split into separate night-by-night requests.

Ok.. Thank you, I misunderstood.

Sorry!

My bolding - Yes, it's 2 waitlists at any one time though (whether that's for one reservation or two different reservations) - not 2 total for a year or use year. So as soon as one came through or you chose to cancel it - you could have another one.

Thanks for the info. So yes, you can have as many waitlist you want per year, but only 2 active ones at one time. So once they are filled, you can waitlist for your next reservation. I was scared there for a minute because we go to WDW about every 3 months and I know I've had my share of waitlist in one year alone. Heck, next week I'm sure I'll be waitlisted for one night in a bwv-studio standard. Trying to get the one day before I arrive in October. Hopefully it will come in since it's only 1 night and its a weekend night, but if it doesn't, no big deal, we'll stay somewhere else our arrival night. I used up all of my bwv home points this year, so need to use SSR points for that arrival night = 7 mo. window.
